FIRST ACCOMPLISHMENT DESCRIPTION
FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4A
LIVE WIRE REPRESENTATIVES WENT TO LAS VEGAS TO BE A PART OF THE PUBLIC RADIO PROGRAM DIRECTORS' CONFERENCE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2012LIVE WIRE WAS FEATURED IN THE PUBLIC RADIO MAGAZINE CURRENT MAGAZINE IN SEPTEMBER AS PART OF A STORY THEY ARE WRITING ABOUT RADIO VARIETY SHOWS. DEVELOPMENT: WE CREATED NEW PARNTERSHIPS IN 2012 WITH ERGO DEPOT, STUMPTOWN COFFEE ROASTERS, NEW DEAL DISTILLERY AND PRIDE FINANCIAL AND CONTINUE OUR STRONG PARTNERSHIPS WITH WHOLE FOODS AND NEW BELGIUM BREWING AND BURGERVILLE WE CONTINUED OUR RELATIONSHIP OREGON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION THROUGH THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF STAN RENECKER FAMILY FUND WE EXECUTED OUR 2ND FUNDRAISING EVENT AND RAISED OVER 15,000K. WE CONTINUE TO INCREASE OUR INDIVIDUAL GIVING FROM 5% OF TOTAL BUDGET OVER 20% IN 2 YEARS. WE WERE ACCEPTED INTO WILLAMETTE WEEK'S GIVE GUIDE AGAIN THIS YEAR. COMMUNITY INVOLVMENT/RECOGNITION: OUR PRODUCER/HEAD WRITER TOOK PART IN OREGON HUMANITIES IDEA LAB FOR THE 2ND YEAR IN A ROW. SHE WAS ALSO THE FEATURED SPEAKER AT THE OES GRADUATION IN JUNE 2012. AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT WE SOLD OUT 9 OF OUR 15 LIVE SHOWS AT THE ALBERTA ROSE THEATRE. PODCAST NUMBERS ARE STARTING TO GROW AT A GREATER RATE. STATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY GROWTH (SEE ABOVE)CONTENT PRODUCTION WE CHANGED HOW WE OPEN THE SHOW TO A MUCH MORE STREAMLINED APPROACH THAT INVOLVED OUR GUESTS. GUEST HIGHLIGHTS WERE MANY: COMIC BOOK ARTIST BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS, WRITERS CHERYL STRAYED, CHELSEA CAIN, DANIEL H. WILSON, THOMAS LAUDERDALE WITH POLITICAL ACTIVIST (WITH A CROONER VOICE) KATHLEEN SAADAT, DIRECTOR OF LAIKA FILM PARANORMAN, CHRIS BUTLER, AD EXEC DAN WIEDEN AS WELL AS NPR WHITE CORRESPONDENT - AND OREGON NATIVE - ARI SHAPIRO. AND WE WERE TREATED TO AMAZING MUSICAL GUESTS INCLUDING BLITZEN TRAPPER AND AGESANDAGES AS WELL AS HELIO SEQUENCE, CORIN TUCKER BAND, LAURA GIBSON, PARSON REDHEADS AND MICHAEL HURLEY, TO NAME A FEW. SO MUCH ENTERTAINMENT PACKED INTO ONE THEATER EACH NIGHT. OUR HOUSE BAND ROCKED OUT EVERY SHOW WHILE FACES FOR RADIO THEATER PERFORMANCES KEPT PEOPLES' EARS ON THEIR TOES. RE-BRAND WE WENT THROUGH A RE-BRANDING PROCESS AND CAME OUT WITH A NEW BEAUTIFUL LOGO THAT BETTER REFLECTS THE SHOW. ALONG WITH THE LOGO CAME SOME DECISIONS ABOUT WHO WE ARE AS A SHOW AND WHO WE WANT TO BE MOVING FORWARD. WE WILL CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON MAKING THE BEST RADIO SHOW WE CAN MAKE AND MARKETING IT TO STATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, WHILE MAKING THE LIVE SHOW FUN FOR THE THEATER AUDIENCE. WE DECIDED THAT AFTER 9 YEARS OF HARKENING BACK TO VAUDEVILLIAN WAYS, IT WAS TIME TO CREATE A NEW MORE MODERN APPROACH. SHOW ELEMENTS WE EXPERIMENT WITH A FEW ELEMENTS THIS SEASON: NO MORE COLD OPEN SKETCH. STREAMLINED OPENING WHICH NOW INCLUDES SHOW GUESTS. WE NO LONGER USE A LIVE SOUND EFFECTS PERSON. RATHER THAN HAVE A DEDICATED SOUND EFFECTS PERSON, WE WILL BE USING SOUNDS FROM AT THE SOUNDBOARD AND THE HOUSEBAND TO MAKE A MORE SEAMLESS APPROACH TO HOW SOUND AND MUSIC ACCOMPANY THE CONTENT OF THE SHOW AND CREATES MORE OF A 'SOUND DESIGN' FEEL FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW. FLASH FICTION/HAIKU SEGMENT - THIS EVER ROTATING SEGMENT WILL CONTINUE TO BE EVER ROTATING. WE WILL TRY OUT DIFFERENT IDEAS THAT ENGAGE BOTH THE LIVE AUDIENCE AND THE AUDIENCE THAT IS ENGAGED THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA. BOARD ADDED TWO NEW MEMBERS
