EASTER SEALS UCP NORTH CAROLINA & VIRGINIA, INC. (ESUCP) CREATES OPPORTUNITIES, PROMOTES INDIVIDUAL CHOICE AND CHANGES THE LIVES OF CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES BY MAXIMIZING THEIR INDIVIDUAL POTENTIAL FOR LIVING, LEARNING AND WORKING IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. EACH YEAR, EASTER SEALS UCP TRANSFORMS THE LIVES OF MORE THAN 17,000 CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES IN NORTH CAROLINA & VIRGINIA. THE PEOPLE WE SUPPORT HAVE DISABILITIES SUCH AS CEREBRAL PALSY, AUTISM, DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, ACQUIRED INJURIES, AGING-RELATED ISSUES AND MENTAL ILLNESS. IT IS THE POLICY OF THE ORGANIZATION TO ONLY CONSIDER PARTICIPATING IN JOINT VENTURES THAT ARE PART OF FORWARDING THE MISSION OF ESUCP AND ITS AFFILIATED ENTITIES. FOR ANY VENTURE THE PRIORITY IS TO MAXIMIZE THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION AS WELL AS OTHER NON PROFITS AND NOT INVESTOR PROFITS. IN CONSULTATION WITH APPROPRIATE PROFESSIONAL ADVISORS, THE ORGANIZATION ENSURES PARTICIPATION IN A VENTURE CANNOT IN ANY WAY JEOPARDIZE THE ORGANIZATION'S TAX EXEMPT STATUS AND THAT NO EXCESS BENEFIT TRANSACTIONS EXIST. THE POLICY MANUAL, INCLUSIVE OF THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY, IS REVIEWED ON AN ANNUAL BASIS. THE POLICIES ARE REVISED AS NEEDED WITH APPROVAL BY THE EXECUTIVE TEAM. THE CFO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING ENFORCEMENT BY ESTABLISHING AND PROVIDING TRAINING OF PROCESSES AND PROCEDURES AS NEEDED WHICH COMPLY WITH THE APPROVED POLICIES.
