	Communications: As a statewide organization with members scattered in communities across the Great State of Alaska, communications is crucial to our success. With a printed membership directory, quarterly newsletter, Legislative Priorities brochure and electronic methods for our Capital Notes, E-News bulletins, as well as our website and related functions contained therein, we use a multitude of media methods to share information with our members.

	Membership: The Alaska State Chamber is a 501 C (6) membership organization. Our program of work centers on activities that support our members and their legislative advocacy needs. We annually produce four meetings that promote the interests of our members and allow them to network with each other. We have one full time staff person dedicated to membership with support staff allocated for a portion of their time to build, support and grow our membership. Membership support includes the directory, the website, LEAD Partnerships, quarterly newsletters, electronic E-News, Capital Notes and leadership, advocacy, training, connectivity for and to our members.

	Board Support: The organization is led by an almost 80 person Board of Directors and a 10 member Executive Committee. The full Board meets quarterly at the end of each of our membership meetings. Board support includes staff time, travel, meals, facility rentals, printing of board packets, telecommunications services for Board members to meet electronically and training facilitation opportunities.

Part X	Part X : FIN48 Footnote	The Chamber is exempt from Federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(6) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Although the Chamber is exempt from federal income taxes, any income derived from unrelated business activities is subject to the requirements of filing Federal Income Tax Form 990T and a tax liability may be determined on these activities. The Chamber's policy is to include penalties and interest associated with income taxes in income tax expense. The Chamber's 990 is open to audit from state and federal taxing agencies. The tax years open for audit are 2009, 2010, and 2011.The Chamber believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements.

Our program of work centers on activities that support our members and their legislative advocacy needs. We annually produce four meetings that promote the interests of our members and allow them to network with each other. We have one full time staff person dedicated to membership with support staff allocated for a portion of their time to build, support and grow our membership. Membership support includes the directory, the website, LEAD Partnerships, quarterly newsletters, electronic E-News, Capital Notes and leadership, advocacy, training, connectivity for and to our members.
