What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT THE INTEGRITY OF TRADITIONAL DANCE FORMS IN THE NORTHWEST AND ENCOURAGE YEAR-ROUND CLASSES, DANCES, SPECIAL EVENTS AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 CLASSES: NDN OFFERS FALL/WINTER/SPRING CLASSES ON A VARIETY OF TRADITIONAL SOCIAL DANCES SUCH AS WALTZ, SWING, FOXTROT AND OTHER BALLROOM &TRADITIONAL DANCES. CLASSES ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC (COUPLES, SINGLES, ALL AGES AND ABILITIES), WIDELY PUBLICIZED, AND HELD IN A NON-COMPETITIVE, GROUP SETTING. INSTRUCTORS ARE HIGHLY SKILLED AND CAREFULLY TRAINED. MORE EXPERIENCED DANCERS VOLUNTEER DURING THE CLASSES TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL TEACHING AND SUPPORT. CLASSES MEET ONE HOUR/WEEK FOR FIVE WEEKS AND ARE HELD AT THE SWEDISH CULTURAL CENTER, CENTRALLY LOCATED IN SEATTLE. TUITION IS KEPT LOW TO MAKE IT AFFORDABLE TO MANY. APPROXIMATELY 450 DANCERS TOOK PART IN NDN'S 2012 CLASSES. NDN OFFERS A FREE, RECORDED MUSIC DANCE AT THE END OF EACH CLASS SERIES FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC.DANCES ARE SMOKE/ALCOHOL FREE.

NDN SELECTS MUSICIANS SO THAT MUSIC APPROPRIATE FOR TRADITIONAL BALLROOM & SOCIAL DANCES IS PLAYED. NDN ALSO FOCUSES ON LOCAL MUSICIANS, TO SUPPORT AND PROMOTE LOCAL ARTISTS. THE COST TO ATTEND IS KEPT LOW AND AFFORDABLE TO MANY. VOLUNTEERS HELP WITH SET-UP, CLEAN-UP AND REGISTRATION. APPROXIMATELY 2,600 DANCERS PAID ADMISSIONS TO NDN'S COMMUNITY DANCES IN 2012.

THE 4-DAY DANCE RETREAT AT SEABECK CONFERENCE CENTER FEATURES LIVE AND RECORDED MUSIC, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: SWING, WALTZ, SALSA, BLUES, TWO-STEP, AND FOXTROT. NDN COLLABORATED WITH OTHER NORTHWEST DANCE ORGANIZATIONS AND INSTRUCTORS TO PRESENT BOTH OF THESE WORKSHOPS, BRINGING DANCERS TOGETHER FROM ALL OVER THE NORTHWEST. PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE FORM 990-EZ, PART III TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT THE INTEGRITY OF TRADITIONAL DANCE FORMS IN THE NORTHWEST AND ENCOURAGE YEAR-ROUND CLASSES, DANCES, SPECIAL EVENTS AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES.
FIRST ACCOMPLISHMENT FORM 990-EZ, PART III, LINE 28 CLASSES: NDN OFFERS FALL/WINTER/SPRING CLASSES ON A VARIETY OF TRADITIONAL SOCIAL DANCES SUCH AS WALTZ, SWING, FOXTROT AND OTHER BALLROOM &TRADITIONAL DANCES. CLASSES ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC (COUPLES, SINGLES, ALL AGES AND ABILITIES), WIDELY PUBLICIZED, AND HELD IN A NON-COMPETITIVE, GROUP SETTING. INSTRUCTORS ARE HIGHLY SKILLED AND CAREFULLY TRAINED. MORE EXPERIENCED DANCERS VOLUNTEER DURING THE CLASSES TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL TEACHING AND SUPPORT. CLASSES MEET ONE HOUR/WEEK FOR FIVE WEEKS AND ARE HELD AT THE SWEDISH CULTURAL CENTER, CENTRALLY LOCATED IN SEATTLE. TUITION IS KEPT LOW TO MAKE IT AFFORDABLE TO MANY. APPROXIMATELY 450 DANCERS TOOK PART IN NDN'S 2012 CLASSES. NDN OFFERS A FREE, RECORDED MUSIC DANCE AT THE END OF EACH CLASS SERIES FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC.DANCES ARE SMOKE/ALCOHOL FREE.
SECOND ACCOMPLISHMENT FORM 990-EZ, PART III, LINE 29 COMMUNITY DANCES: NDN OFFERS COMMUNITY DANCES TWICE A MONTH. THE DANCES BEGIN WITH ONE HOUR OF DANCE INSTRUCTION. DANCES ARE WIDELY PUBLICIZED, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC (COUPLES, SINGLES, ALL AGES AND ABILITIES) AND SMOKE & ALCOHOL FREE. LIVE MUSIC IS PROVIDED. NDN SELECTS MUSICIANS SO THAT MUSIC APPROPRIATE FOR TRADITIONAL BALLROOM & SOCIAL DANCES IS PLAYED. NDN ALSO FOCUSES ON LOCAL MUSICIANS, TO SUPPORT AND PROMOTE LOCAL ARTISTS. THE COST TO ATTEND IS KEPT LOW AND AFFORDABLE TO MANY. VOLUNTEERS HELP WITH SET-UP, CLEAN-UP AND REGISTRATION. APPROXIMATELY 2,600 DANCERS PAID ADMISSIONS TO NDN'S COMMUNITY DANCES IN 2012.
THIRD ACCOMPLISHMENT FORM 990-EZ, PART III, LINE 30 WORKSHOPS/SPECIAL EVENTS: NDN OFFERS TWO MAJOR DANCE WORKSHOPS EACH YEAR. FOR THE LATE WINTER WALTZ WORKSHOP, NDN BRINGS IN INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN INSTRUCTORS TO TEACH AN INTENSIVE 2-DAY WORKSHOP TO EXPERIENCED DANCERS. THE WORKSHOP EMPHASIZES THE VINTAGE ASPECT OF WALTZ AS WELL AS THE HISTORY OF DANCE. THE 4-DAY DANCE RETREAT AT SEABECK CONFERENCE CENTER FEATURES LIVE AND RECORDED MUSIC, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: SWING, WALTZ, SALSA, BLUES, TWO-STEP, AND FOXTROT. NDN COLLABORATED WITH OTHER NORTHWEST DANCE ORGANIZATIONS AND INSTRUCTORS TO PRESENT BOTH OF THESE WORKSHOPS, BRINGING DANCERS TOGETHER FROM ALL OVER THE NORTHWEST. APPROXIMATELY 225 DANCERS TOOK PART IN THE 2012 WORKSHOPS. IN 2012 NDN CONTINUED ITS OUTREACH BRINGING DANCE DEMONSTRATIONS TO LOCAL ELDER-CARE FACILITIES TO ENCOURAGE DANCING.
