OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: BEHAVIOR and TRAINING: WHS canine training curriculum included basic and advanced training, puppy training and play-groups, specialty, trick and agility classes, as well as individual consultations with WHSs certified pet dog trainer. We served 304 households, trained 252 dogs in classes, and 32 pets and their families in private consultations. In addition, we held 4 Jr. Trainer Camps serving 48 middle-school youth and piloted a winter holiday camp with 12 participants teaching elementary dog training and responsible pet care and treatment. Additionally, WHS offers pre-adoption consultations about dogs with specific behavioral needs in order to advise and instruct potential adopters. A free seminar titled Intro to Training is offered weekly to all adopters and the public. We continued our behavior helpline open to all community members and answered 263 individual inquiries this year. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: VOLUNTEERS: 858 volunteers contributed 65,000 hours last year, equal to more than31 FTE (equivalent full-time workers). WHS volunteers comprise approximately 45 percent of our total workforce. Volunteers provided pets with compassionate care and training, cleaned kennels and staffed events, assisted adoptions and administration, provided grounds maintenance and professional in-kind services, led the organization, and staffed several retail operations. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: COMMUNITY SPAY/NEUTER ASSISTANCE: WHS Spay & Neuter Clinic conducted 4,526 spay and neuter surgeries. Additional surgeries such as dental cleanings, amputations, growth removals, etc. were performed on WHS shelter pets to enhance adoptability. Over 84% of the clinics public customers reported no relationship with veterinarians and appreciate the below market spay/neuter fees to eliminate unwanted litters and reduce the cat overpopulation. The 4,526 sterilization surgeries completed this year included: 3,235 Cats 1,291 Dogs OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: FOOD ASSISTANCE: Donors and volunteers completed a trial to offer emergency pet food for local residents with financial struggles, to retain their pets in their home. Reduced donations and operational demands ended the public pet-food bank trial. For the 8th year, our Animeals program through Meals-on-Wheels of America continues to distribute pet food to elderly and homebound individuals every month. Total People and Animals Served: 55,099
