Part III summary of mission VIP EF is a nonprofit Arizona Corporation whose mission is to provide education for citizens on aspects of effective leadership as well as participation in public forums and civic organizations Part III line 28 continued This training includes relationship building developing organization ability planning and implementing development strategies conducting research and group problem solving VIP EF initiates and creates materials for training and education of citizens enabling them to manage programs for improvement of their lifestyles the betterment of their communities and shaping of public life Civic Academies VIP Education Fund leaders conducted over 20 civic academies in member institutions teaching about the states broken budget and economy and its impacts on education health care immigration and housing These sessions were taught by VIPEF leaders and included public officials as guests Over 800 institutional leaders attended Economic Summit In October 2011 VIP Education Fund convened a summit on the future of Arizonas economy Secretary of State Ken Bennett Arizona Department of Housing Director Mike Trailor and Maricopa Community College District Chancellor Rufus Glasper responded to VIPEFs assessment of the states economic needs VIPEF proposed a joint strategy to address job training and mortgage foreclosure relief for families needing better employment Congregational Development VIP Education Fund Organizer Tim McManus worked to develop Core Teams in 12 congregations who would become more attuned to how the mission of their faith tradition calls them to exercise leadership in their broader communities Considerable time is spent in reflection on the faith basis for broad based community organizing and on developing relational skills that will help leaders engage their faith communities Leadership Training VIP Education Fund held four leadership retreats for 250 leaders during the fall of 2011 and the spring of 2012 New and experienced leaders learned the skills of institutional organizing and developed strategies for working on key issues in their regions
