1

4a (Code:   ) (Expenses $ 36,939,829 including grants of $ 9,936,218 ) (Revenue $ 26,694,029 )
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: GIVING BACK AND PROVIDING SUPPORT TO NEIGHBORS. MORE THAN 16 MILLION OF OUR COUNTRY'S YOUTH LIVES IN A HOUSEHOLD THAT STRUGGLES TO PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE. Y-USA SECURED A $5 MILLION GRANT FROM THE WALMART FOUNDATION TO OFFER SUMMER FOOD PROGRAMS IN COMMUNITIES LARGE AND SMALL THAT PROVIDE NUTRITIOUS MEALS AND SNACKS TO KIDS. MORE THAN 300 YMCAS SERVED 4.3 MILLION MEALS AND SNACKS TO 120,000 KIDS IN THE SUMMER OF 2012-A TIME WHEN THE KIDS DID NOT HAVE ACCESS TO SCHOOL MEALS AND MAY OTHERWISE HAVE GONE HUNGRY. THE FUNDING FROM THE WALMART FOUNDATION SUPPLEMENTED THE MONEY PROVIDED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND THE YMCAS' OWN CONTRIBUTIONS, ENABLING THEM TO FEED MORE KIDS.
4b (Code:   ) (Expenses $ 23,704,704 including grants of $ 5,192,999 ) (Revenue $ 17,188,892 )
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF CHILDREN AND TEENS. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT CHILDREN WHO PARTICIPATE IN AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS ARE MORE SUCCESSFUL IN ACADEMICS, ARE HEALTHIER, AND MORE OFTEN MAINTAIN POSITIVE BEHAVIORS. IN 2012, Y-USA DISTRIBUTED GRANTS TOTALING NEARLY $1.5 MILLION TO 285 YMCAS TO HELP THEM SERVE MORE CHILDREN IN SAFE, ENRICHING AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS. THESE FUNDS HELPED YS PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE DURING THE 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR TO YOUTH IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 12TH GRADE WHO ARE NOT CURRENTLY PARTICIPATING IN AN AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM OR WHO ARE AT RISK OF LEAVING THEIR EXISTING AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM BECAUSE THEIR FAMILIES LACK THE NECESSARY FINANCIAL RESOURCES. JCP CARES, THE CHARITABLE GIVING PROGRAM OF JCPENNEY, FUNDED THE GRANTS.
4c (Code:   ) (Expenses $ 19,109,990 including grants of $ 3,775,458 ) (Revenue $ 13,480,083 )
HEALTHY LIVING: IMPROVING THE NATION'S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. YMCAS ACROSS THE NATION ARE WORKING WITH COMMUNITY LEADERS TO MAKE OPPORTUNITIES FOR HEALTHY LIVING ACCESSIBLE TO ALL. THESE COLLABORATIONS ARE BRINGING FARMERS MARKETS AND COMMUNITY GARDENS TO NEIGHBORHOODS WHERE FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES WERE NOT AVAILABLE; MAKING STREETS SAFE FOR ALL USERS, WHETHER THEY WALK, ROLL, BIKE, OR DRIVE; AND HELPING SCHOOLS MAKE OPPORTUNITIES FOR HEALTHY EATING AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER THE SCHOOL DAY. WITH FUNDING - SECURED BY Y-USA - FROM SUPPORTERS LIKE THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION, THE ROBERT WOOD JOHNSON FOUNDATION, AND SAM'S CLUB GIVING PROGRAM, YMCAS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES HAVE INFLUENCED 35,900 CHANGES, IMPACTING UP TO 65 MILLION PEOPLE.
