OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: College Support (CS) - Over 150 college freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors were served through ongoing comprehensive support and outreach, 100% of freshmen received on site campus visits from Rainier Scholars staff and a College 101 retreat provided support for transition into college life. December and Summer Career connections continued to develop, and summer internships and additional career networking opportunities were provided to all college support scholars. In 2013, 170 scholars will be attending 75 different colleges in 24 states. The most significant accomplishment of all was the college graduation of our first cohort of scholars. Over 60% of cohort 1 graduated within a 4 year time frame, and 92%+ are on track for a five year graduation, surpassing our original goals set forth at the inception of our college support phase. This reality of graduates has spurred us to establish our first-ever Alumni Affairs phase of programming, designed to support young graduates in area of professional networking and mentoring, as well as build support for our organization out of our alumni base. This work will be a significant focal point in the year to come.
