What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The purposes of this Association shall be to promote the interests of public education advance the standards of the teaching profession, promote the general welfare of its members, promote better understanding of educational problems among teachers and lay citizens, represent the members in negotiating and implementing collective bargaining agreements, and build and maintain a close relationship with New York State United Teachers, Inc. (NYSUT) & its National Affiliate, and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT, AFL-CIO).
