    completion of a membership application form and payment

Line 1(h)   Women (ASFW) Grants help end violence against families.
Part I Line 1   NSAA's Mission and most significant activities
    Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage (NSAA) is dedicated to
    promoting all forms of Nordic skiing as a healthy form of
    individual and famility activity. NSAA's primary activity
    is to build, groom and maintain over 140 kilometers of
    spectacular world class trails in Anchorage.
    Since the l960's, NSAA has been introducing Alaskans to
    cross country skiing and developing youth athletes through
    learn-to-ski programs, biathlon, Nordic ski jumping, and
    backcountry tours. Each winter, NSAA hosts dozens
    of local and national-level ski competitions and
    community events for skiers of all ages and abilities.
Part III   Public Trail Maintenance:
Line 4a   NSAA works year round to build, maintain, provide signage
    and groom over 140 kilometers of public ski-only and
    multi-use trails in the Anchorage area. These trails
    are located in Kincaid Park, Hillside/Far North
    Bicentennial Park, Alaska Pacific University, Bartlett
    High School, Edmonds Lake, and Beach Lake Park and are
    available to the public to enjoy without a fee. NSAA
    also works in coordination with the Anchorage School
    District to groom the grade school and middle school
    grounds for use during gym classes and for after school
    activities. NSAA maintains and houses a fleet of
    trail equipment for winter trail grooming and summer
    maintenance. During the 2011-2012 year, NSAA spent
    2,513 hours and groomed over 8,926 kilometers of ski
    trails.
Part III   Host Winter Family Events
Line 4b   Each year, NSAA encourages fitness and backcountry
    enjoyment by hosting fun skiing events for the entire
    family. The Alaska Ski for Women takes place every
    Super Bowl Sunday. Over 1,000 women of all ages donned
    colorful costumes to ski 4 kilometers and raised
    $62,060 for non-profits that help stop the cycle of
    violence against families. Ski 4 Kids days is about kids
    having fun on snow and raising money to purchase ski
    equipment for programs supporting those who are less
    fortunate. The 2012 event hosted 458 grade school age
    kids. Since the 1960's, NSAA has been taking skiers
    into the backcountry on guided tours.
Part III   Athlete Development
Line 4c   An important mission of NSAA is athlete development. Six
    hundred and ninty-one youth ages 6 to 14 participated in
    the Anchorage Junior Nordic League, a learn-to-ski program. Five
    days a week, instructors teach the love of skiing in 3
    separate locations in Anchorage. Volunteers are an
    important part of introducing youth to biathlon at the
    biathlon range in Kincaid Park and Nordic ski jumping at
    the Karl Eid Jumps in Far North Bicentennial Park. Over 250
    adults improved their skiing in our adult ski lessons.
