THROUGH THE DISPLACED HOMEMAKER PROGRAM, W.O.R.C. ASSISTS BOTH MEN AND WOMEN TO EVALUATE THEIR CURRENT EMPLOYMENT NEEDS, THEN OFFERS FREE WEEK-LONG WORKSHOPS TO SHARPEN JOB SEEKING SKILLS, AS WELL AS HELPING WITH JOB REFERRALS AND PLACEMENT. IN 2011/2012, HELP SERVED 596 ADULTS WHO HAD RECENTLY LOST HIS OR HER PRIMARY SOURCE OF INCOME DUE TO JOB LAY-OFFS, DIVORCE, DEATH, OR DISABILITY. IN ADDITION, THROUGH THE WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT-YOUTH PROGRAM, FUNDED BY WORKFORCE CONNECTIONS, HELP OF SOUTHERN NEVADA PROVIDED LOW INCOME, AT-RISK YOUTH, IN-SCHOOL AND OUT-OF- SCHOOL YOUTH, AGES 16-21 IN CLARK COUNTY TO INCLUDE THE UNINCORPORATED AREAS OF SANDY VALLEY & SEARCHLIGHT WITH LONG TERM OUTCOMES SUCH AS: BASIC EDUCATIONAL & EMPLOYMENT SKILLS, COMPLETION OF ACADEMIC CERTIFICATES (INCLUDING HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMAS & EQUIVALENTS) AND PLACEMENT IN EMPLOYMENT, POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING. IN 2011/2012, HELP SERVED 743 UNDUPLICATED AT-RISK YOUTH WITH WIA PROGRAMS. COMMUNITY ALTERNATIVE SENTENCING (CAS) CAS PROGRAM ALLOWS COURT APPOINTED VOLUNTEERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY, SAVE TAXPAYERS THE COST OF INCARCERATION, AND PROVIDE MANPOWER TO NON-PROFITS AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. DURING THE 2011/2012 FISCAL YEAR, VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED A TOTAL OF 237,790 HOURS. STATE OF NEVADA 211 PROGRAM IS A STATE-WIDE INFORMATION AND REFERRAL CENTER CONNECTING CALLS TO FREE INFORMATION REGARDING ESSENTIAL HUMAN SERVICES, MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES, EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT SERVICES, PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES, SUPPORT TO SENIORS AND PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES, AND DONATIONS AND SUPPORT FOR COMMUNITY CRISIS OR DISASTER RECOVERY. DURING THE 2011/2012 FISCAL YEAR, 84,689 CALLERS WERE GIVEN ASSISTANCE THROUGH THIS PROGRAM. SHANNON WEST HOMELESS YOUTH CENTER (SWHYC) SWHYC IS A RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM OFFERED TO AT-RISK AND HOMELESS YOUTH, AGE 16-24, PROVIDING SHELTER, CASE MANAGEMENT, SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELING, EDUCATIONAL AND VOCATIONAL COUNSELING, AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES. THE SWHYC HELPED 342 YOUTHS IN THE 2011/2012 FISCAL YEAR. FAMILY SERVICES FAMILY SERVICES HAS THE BABY FIRST, A NEW PATH AND A NEW START PROGRAMS. THE BABY FIRST PROGRAM PROVIDES PRE/POST NATAL GUIDANCE TO FIRST-TIME MOTHERS, AT-RISK TEENS, AND AT-RISK WOMEN IN OUR COMMUNITY TO REDUCE THE RISK OF LOW BIRTH WEIGHT AND INFANT MORTALITY. DURING THE 2011/2012 FISCAL YEAR, 617 PREGNANT WOMEN AND/OR THEIR BABIES WERE HELPED. A NEW PATH IS A 6 TO 12 MONTH PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES RENT AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES WHO ARE HOMELESS OR FACING HOMELESSNESS. THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON PROVIDING CASE MANAGEMENT, PROGRAMMING AND SUPPORT TO ITS CLIENTS TO BECOME SELF SUFFICIENT ONCE THEY LEAVE THE PROGRAM. DURING THE 2011/2012 FISCAL YEAR, 30 FAMILIES WERE HELPED. A NEW START IS A SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES RENTAL ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO HOMELESS FAMILIES WHO HAVE A DOCUMENTED DISABILITY. THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON PROVIDING CASE MANAGEMENT, PROGRAMMING AND SUPPORT TO ITS CLIENTS TO BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT ONCE THEY LEAVE THE PROGRAM. DURING THE 2011/2012 FISCAL YEAR, 20 FAMILIES WERE BEING HELPED.
