Briefly describe the organization’s mission: The National Structured Settlements Trade Association (the "Association") is a non-profit trade association incorporated in the State of California. The Association's principal office is located in Washington, DC. Membership is comprised of persons and firms actively involved in, associated with or having an interest in, the furtherance of periodic payment of compensation on account of personal injuries and other claims utilizing periodic payments. The Association was formed to provide members and other interested parties opportunities for self-improvement, education, dialogue and advancement in the structured settlement profession.

Part X	Part X : FIN48 Footnote	The Internal Revenue Service has determined that the Association is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC).During the year ended June 30, 2011, the Association adopted the authoritative guidance relating to uncertainty in income taxes included in ASC Topic Income Taxes. These provisions provide consistent guidance for the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in an entity's financial statements and prescribe a threshold of "more likely than not" for recognition and de-recognition of tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. The Association performed an evaluation of uncertain tax positions for the year ended June 30, 2012, and determined that there were no material matters that would require recognition in the financial statements or that may have an effect on its tax-exempt status. As of June 30, 2012, the statute of limitations for the Form 990 for years 2008-2010 remains open with the Internal Revenue Service. It is the Association's policy to recognize interest and/or penalties related to uncertain tax positions, if any, in income tax expense.
