Explanation
Form 990 Part III Line 4a Bible Clubs for children - Children are a priority ministry for SMI. Introducing them to Gods love in an environment of fun and high-energy activities is the goal of our Bible clubs. 32 Bible clubs were sponsored by SMI this year enabling over 1,400 children to participate. These clubs are in partnership with local churches to demonstrate their concern for the children and to provide follow-up activities. For the first year, SMI was invited to conduct the Bible clubs at three different government funded day care centers. Church Planting and leadership development - Again this year, SMI sponsored the Antioch Movement to prepare and motivate pastors for church planting. Three conferences attended by 20 people were held. Conferences for pastors, teachers and leaders - The SMI Leadership Team conducted the annual teachers Bible club training seminar attended by 47 church leaders. Because of SMIs focus on national partnerships, the following list of partners supported by SMI is provided New Life ministries to University students Metanoia, a new church in Tiraspol Moldova Agape Church telephone evangelism program Church-planting ministry in Turkmenistan and, Antioch Movement church-planting project. Major event - This year SMI purchased a building and now has a permanent home for the mission.
Form 990 Part III Line 4b Benevolent ministry - A family desiring to adopt two at risk children from the local orphanage did not meet the space requirements of the governing agency. SMI built an addition to their small home enabling them to rescue two little girls. Help the Children foster care homes for orphans - SMI facilitates HTCs operation by providing all administrative functions in the USA. In-country activities included staff and foster family training and outings for the families and 42 children. Orphanage outreaches and supplies - 45 children at Parcani Orphanage attended the SMI Bible club. Children with special needs for clothing and shoes were taken on a shopping event. Four containers of relief products prepared, shipped and distributed - 124,582 pounds of relief products were sent to Tiraspol for humanitarian distribution and in partnership with the thrift shops. Remodeling orphanage facilities and homes of the poor - Funds were provided for local laborers to repair the wall at Parcani Orphanage. Transitional Care Program for older orphans - Team members hosted the transitional students and prospective students at a number of outreaches designed to share the Gospel and provide information about the program.
Form 990 Part III Line 4c Evangelistic events - English clubs wre sponsored by SMI in partnership with New Life campus ministries and Open Heaven Church with 75 students participating. Volunteer opportunities - SMI provided opportunities to participate in short-term mission trips, in their warehouse and local office. 4,753 volunteer hours were logged.
