PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

IN ADDITION WE PROVIDE A VARIETY OF OUTPATIENT AND DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES. WE PROVIDE A 24/7 COVERAGE OF AN EMERGENCY ROOM THAT IS STAFFED WITH OUR OWN PROVIDERS. OUR RURAL HEALTH CLINIC IS DESIGNATED AS A SAFETY NET CLINIC BY THE STATE OF KANSAS. ADDING TO OUR ALREADY ESTABLISHED ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS IN 2013 WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED A PHARMACY, MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION AND COMPUTERIZED PHYSICIAN ORDER ENTRY. THE SOFTWARE PROGRAM EXITCARE WAS ALSO ESTABLISHED IN 2013 THAT ASSISTS WITH DISCHARGE PLANNING AND TEACHING TO OUR PATIENTS. IN THE HIM DEPARTMENT A PROCESS OF SCANNING INTO THE COMPUTERIZED CHART WAS ADAPTED. TO OUR ALREADY ESTABLISHED ELECTRONIC QUALITY CALENDAR WE HAVE ADDED THE COMPUTERIZED RISK MANAGEMENT COMPONENT THUS BEING ABLE TO DRIVE CHANGE IN PROCESSES THAT POSITIVELY IMPACT MEASUREABLE QUALITY AND SAFETY FOR OUR PATIENTS IN THE COMMUNITY. THE HOSPITAL IS ONE OF TWO HOSPITALS IN THE STATE THAT ALSO OPERATES THE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT. THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT WORKS VERY CLOSELY WITH THE CLINICS, HOSPITAL, AND SCHOOLS TO PROVIDE PREVENTATIVE HEALTH FOR THE COMMUNITY. WE HAVE PROVIDED OBSTETRICAL CARE TO THE AREA WITH THE SERVICES OF DR. ALLARD WHO HAS SINCE MOVED TO NEBRASKA BUT WILL RESUME THIS SERVICE WITH A NEW PHYSICIAN WHO WILL BE HERE IN AUGUST. THE LOCAL HOSPITAL BOARD SERVES AS A CONNECTION TO THE COMMUNITY TO PROVIDE LOCAL LEADERSHIP AS TO SERVICES OFFERED AND TO HANDLE LOCAL TAX APPROPRIATIONS. WE WERE ONE OF FOUR COMMUNITIES IN THE STATE OF KANSAS THAT RECEIVED THE KANSAS RURAL HEALTH SYSTEMS IMPROVEMENT GRANT. THIS GRANT WILL BEGIN ON NOVEMBER 1, 2013 AND WILL HELP THE COMMUNITY ANALYZE THEIR AREA HEALTH CARE SYSTEM, CONSIDER OTHER SUCCESSFUL MODELS AND IMPLEMENT CHANGES TO ENSURE THAT OUR RESIDENTS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO QUALITY ESSENTIAL HEALTH CARE OVER LONG TERM. THE STRATEGIC PLAN WAS DEVELOPED USING INPUT FROM THE COMMUNITY, STAFF, MEDICAL STAFF, AND HOSPITAL BOARD. THE STRATEGIC PLAN IDENTIFIES FOUR PILLARS WHICH ARE: QUALITY, FINANCIAL, COMMUNITY, AND TEAM. THIS PLAN WILL BE EVALUATED AND UPDATING THE PLAN EACH YEAR WITH INPUT FROM THE ABOVE INDIVIDUALS.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY

THE ORGANIZATION IS REQUIRED TO ADOPT GPHA'S CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY. ALL BOARD MEMBERS, OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES ARE SUBJECT TO THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY AND SIGN AN ANNUAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT THEY HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND AND COMPLIED WITH THE GPHA CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY. UNDER THE POLICY, ANY MEMBER WHO HAS A DIRECT OR INDIRECT (VIA FAMILY) FINANCIAL INTEREST IS CHARACTERIZED AS AN INTERESTED PERSON. INTERESTED PERSONS ARE REQUIRED TO DISCLOSE FINANCIAL INTERESTS WITH COMPANIES DOING BUSINESS WITH GPHA. THE INTERESTED PERSON MUST RECUSE THEMSELVES FROM FURTHER DISCUSSIONS OF THE TRANSACTION AND LEAVE THE ROOM. THE REMAINING NON-INTERESTED MEMBERS DECIDE IF A CONFLICT OF INTEREST EXISTS.
