THE SAILING PROGRAM EMPHASIZED SMALL BOAT HANDLING SKILLS AND WATER SAFETY. CRAB'S UNIQUE ADAPTIVE KEEL SAILBOATS BROADENED THESE CHILDREN'S AWARENESS OF THE POSSIBILITIES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AS WELL AS HELPED THEM LEARN THE BASICS OF SAILING. A TOTAL OF 51 CHILDREN ATTENDED. 4)TOOK 68 GUESTS SAILING FROM ORGANIZATIONS SERVING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. GROUPS PARTICIPATING IN THESE PRIVATE SAILS INCLUDED THE MARYLAND SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND, ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL'S VISUALLY IMPAIRED PROGRAM, AND HOWARD COUNTY RECREATION DEPARTMENT'S "ENDLESS ADVENTURES FOR KIDS WITH DISABILITIES". 5)THE BENEDICTINE SCHOOL, A PRIVATE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH HEAD INJURIES AND DEVELOPMENTAL ISSUES, BROUGHT CHILDREN FROM TALBOT COUNTY TO SAIL WITH CRAB. 11 CHILDREN PARTICIPATED. 6)12 SENIOR CITIZENS FROM HERITAGE HARBOR, A RETIREMENT COMMUNITY IN ANNAPOLIS, AND 11 GUESTS FROM THE CHESTER RIVER MANOR NURSING AND REHABILITATION CENTER IN CHESTERTOWN, MD ENJOYED AN AFTERNOON SAILING WITH CRAB. SENIOR CITIZENS FROM MONTGOMERY AND PRINCE GEORGES COUNTIES JOINED CRAB AT THE MONTHLY SAILFREES. 7)ORGANIZED THE CRAB CUP REGATTA IN JUNE. THIS TWO DAY RACING EVENT, HOSTED BY THE ANNAPOLIS YACHT CLUB, IS A QUALIFIER FOR THE ANNUAL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FOR SAILORS WITH DISABILITIES HELD IN CHICAGO. 12 CRAB GUESTS PARTICIPATED. 8)COORDINATED WITH BOEING, THE UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY SAILING TEAM, AND THE NATIONAL SAILING HALL OF FAME TO PROVIDE A COMPETITIVE MINI-REGATTA FOR 3 WOUNDED WARRIORS. 9) HOSTED A WOUNDED WARRIORS RECREATIONAL SAILING DAY FOR 10 INDIVIDUALS IN THE COMBAT STRESS RECOVERY PROGRAM OF THE WOUNDED WARRIORS PROGRAM. 10) 12 PEOPLE RACED IN FOUR CRAB BOATS AT THE BOATYARD BAR AND GRILL REGATTA TO BENEFIT CRAB. A TOTAL OF 52 BOATS PARTICIPATED IN THE FUNDRAISER. 11) PROVIDED INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES ON SAFE RECREATIONAL BOATING WITH ADAPTIVE DEVICES TO DOZENS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES. 12) SCHEDULED PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL SAILS FOR FAMILIES WITH DISABLED FAMILY MEMBERS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. 19 GUESTS PARTICIPATED WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF 13 VOLUNTEERS. 13) CRAB WAS PRESENT AT VARIOUS EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR INCLUDING THE RETURN OF MATT RUTHERFORD FROM HIS NORTHWEST CHALLENGE FUNDRAISER FOR CRAB, THE SPRING BOAT SHOW, THE ANNAPOLIS CITY FAIR, THE BOATYARD BAR AND GRILL FUNDRAISER/PARTY, THE ANNAPOLIS SAILBOAT SHOW, AND THE CRAB BASH FUNDRAISER/PARTY AT THE PAVILION AT PORT ANNAPOLIS MARINA. HUNDREDS OF VISITORS WERE ABLE TO LEARN ABOUT CRAB AT THESE FUNCTIONS.
