What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? A local service club for the Greater Columbia SC area. The club provides services and cash donations to various local, state, and national charities. The club provides scholarships to local high school students, provides support for Camp Hope, and various other projects. Our largest program is the operation of a haunted house at Halloween tie. This is our largest fundraiser as well as our largest community service project.

Our organization had maintained current status until Tax Year 2010 (December 1, 2010-December 31, 2010) at which point there was a changeover at the Treasurer position, the new treasurer and other leadership were not aware of the filing requirement and the organization failed to file Form 990. The 2011 Form 990 preparer, Bryan Moore, was installed as Treasurer in January 2013 and after the books were transferred, this oversight was identified. Our organization procedures and Treasurer job description have been updated to reflect that the Form 990 needs to be filed by the 15th day of the 5th month after the close of our fiscal year (December 31st). This, along with proper handoff of Treasurer duties, will prevent a missed filing from occurring in the future.
