What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? NIMA IS A RURAL-BASED MANUFACTURING TRADE ASSOCIATION RUN BY AND FOR SMALL MANUFACTURERS. THROUGH CLOSE BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS WITH ITS MEMBERS, NIMA PROVIDES SERVICES AND REFERRALS TO ASSIST MANUFACTURERS TO GROW AND IMPROVE THEIR BUSINESSES. NIMA OFFERS OPPORTUNITIES FOR NETWORKING AND ENHANCING COMMUNICATION AMONG MANUFACTURERS AND WITH OTHER GROUPS. IT IS AN ACTIVE VOICE AND ADVOCATE FOR MANUFACTURERS IN THE REGION, PROMOTING MANUFACTURING THROUGH ITS LEADERSHIP IN FOSTERING WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, TRAINING AND EDUCATION.

28 NIMA HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN CONTINUING AN INITIATIVE STARTED IN 2008 TO BRING SOLID WORKS INTO AREA HIGH SCHOOLS; CURRENTLY 22 SCHOOLS HAVE THE SOLID WORKS AVAILABLE. NIMA HAS CREATED MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES BETWEEN MANUFACTURERS AND THE EDUCATORS, AS WELL AS DEVELOPING INTERNSHIPS, SHADOWING, AND TOURS FOR SCHOOLS. NIMA CONTINUES TO ASSIST MANUFACTURERS TO INTRODUCE THEM TO AN ARRAY OF RESOURCES THAT ASSIST THE MANUFACTURER WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO SELECT THE COUNTRY WITH GREATEST NEED FOR THEIR PRODUCTS. NIMA HAS COLLABORATED WITH ANOTHER NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION TO APPLY AND SUCCESSFULLY RECEIVE FUNDING TO DEVELOP AND ESTABLISH A PROGRAM TO LINK SMALL MANUFACTURERS TO US DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE CONTRACTS. THE NON-PROFITS TOGETHER HAVE APPLIED AND RECEIVED 2 GRANTS WITH BOTH THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION AND THE SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION.
