What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The USMMA National Parents Association, Inc. is the parents association for the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. The association sponsors the annual Parents Weekend at the Academy. The Association will serve as a support organization for Plebe Candidates, their families, and all Midshipmen and their families during their years at the academy. The Association will assist and support the activities of the Parents' Association Chapters throughout the country. It shall foster and encourage development of the Academy and Parents' Association Chapters and shall enhance the prestige thereof by acquisition, preservation and dissemination of information pertaining to the history, activities and objectives of the Academy and Parents' Association Chapters.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Parents Weekend is the primary event of the Association. During the event, the Association provides new cadets and parents with social events and informational presentations regarding any questions and concerns about the Academy lifestyle and future responsibilities of cadets. When your son or daughter is admitted to the Academy it is clearly a life changing commitment and the activities of Parents Weekend provide necessary informational resources from alumni, faculty and administrators. Fees charged to parents for participation in Parents Weekend represent 100% of fund-raising activities for the Association. Related expenses include rental of chairs, tables, lighting and tents, catering and all other costs of the weekend events.
