4 THE CONSTANCE AND CARL FERRIS CHARITABLE OPERATING
4 FOUNDATION, INC. ( THE FOUNDATION) WAS FORMED IN THE FALL
4 OF 2006. ON DECEMBER 29, 2006 CARL AND CONSTANCE FERRIS
4 MADE THEIR FIRST CONTRIBUTION TO THE FOUNDATION. BECAUSE
4 THE FOUNDATION ONLY RECEIVED THIS CONTRIBUTION LATE IN THE
4 YEAR, IT DID NOT HAVE ANY ASSETS TO MAKE ANY GRANT
4 PAYMENTS. HOWEVER, IN 2007 THE FOUNDATION AWARDED ITS FIRST
4 TWO GRANTS EACH TO TWO HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES OF KENT
4 COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GRANT
4 PROCEDURES ATTACHED. AS A RESULT OF THE GRANTS MADE IN
4 2007, THE FOUNDATION SATISFIED THE APPLICABLE TESTS TO
4 QUALIFY AS A PRIVATE OPERATING FOUNDATION IN 2007.
4 IN 2008, THE FOUNDATION MADE A TOTAL OF FOUR GRANTS TO HIGH
4 SCHOOL GRADUATES OF KENT COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL, IN ACCORDANCE
4 WITH THE GRANT PROCEDURES ATTACHED. THE VALUE OF THE
4 FOUNDATION'S ASSETS, HOWEVER WAS CONSIDERABLY HIGHER IN
4 2008 SO THAT THE AMOUNT OF QUALIFIED GRANTS WAS NOT
4 SUFFICIENT TO RETAIN THE PRIVATE OPERATING FOUNDATION
4 STATUS IN 2008 FOR THE FOUNDATION.
