WAS ESTABLISHED IN GEORGIA IN 2005 BY PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES TO ADDRESS THE INCREASING NEED FOR MEANINGFUL OPTIONS OF POST-SECONDARY, DAY AND AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMMING FOR ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS, AND AS A MEANS OF PROVIDING THE DEVELOPMENT OF LIFE CONNECTIONS FOR THOSE INDIVIDUALS. PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO TRADITIONAL PROGRAMS AVAILABLE TO MANY ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS. PROGRAM INACCESSIBILITY BECOMES MORE PREVALENT AT THE STAGES OF LIFE THAT INCLUDE PRE-SCHOOL, SCHOOL AGE AND POST SCHOOL YEARS. A NOTICEABLE VOID IS PRESENT IN ALL THESE STAGES. TWO OF THE MOST PREVALENT ARE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND POST GRADUATION PROGRAMS. THE PURPOSE OF GREAT PROSPECTS IS TO EXPAND THE CIRCLE OF SUPPORT IN ORDER TO EQUIP PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS WITH A LASTING CONNECTION TO THEIR COMMUNITIES. OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE CONTINUED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, SOCIAL INTERACTION AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES THAT WILL CHALLENGE THE INDIVIDUAL IN A NURTURING, SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT.
