THE MISSION OF MOLLY'S FUND FIGHTING LUPUS IS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AND THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY ABOUT LUPUS, TO PUSH FOR EARLIER, LIFE-SAVING DIAGNOSES FOR THOSE AFFLICTED, AND TO SPUR GOVERNMENTS AND FOUNDATIONS TO FUND RESEARCH TOWARD A CURE.
FIRST ACCOMPLISHMENT DESCRIPTION

GOVERNOR DECLARED MAY LUPUS AWARENESS MONTH. WE LIT THE MORRISON BRIDGE IN MOLLY'S FUND'S COLORS ON LUPUS AWARENESS DAY, MAY 10 AND HELD A CANDLELIGHT VIGIL HONORING THOSE WHO HAVE LOST THEIR FIGHT TO LUPUS. WE ALSO HOSTED OUR FIRST WALK, BUTTERFLIES IN THE PARK, ON MAY 20 AT OAKS PARK IN PORTLAND. OVER 200 PEOPLE AND THEIR FAMILIES WALKED TO RAISE AWARENESS AND FUNDS. APPROXIMATELY 22,000 WAS RAISED AT OUR WALK. SERVING UP STYLE, OUR ANNUAL FUNDRAISING AND AWARENESS BUILDING EVENT GREW LARGER THIS PAST YEAR. WE HAD TWELVE DINING ROOMS AND FOUR EXHIBITORS JOIN MOLLY'S FUND FOR THE FOUR DAY EVENT. OVER 10,000 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE SHOW AND LEARNED MORE ABOUT THIS DEVASTATING AND INCURABLE DISEASE, WHICH REMAINS TOO-LITTLE RECOGNIZED AND MISUNDERSTOOD. OVER 6,000 PEOPLE VOTED FOR THEIR FAVORITE DINING ROOM. ON SATURDAY NIGHT OF THE FOUR DAY EVENT, MOLLY'S FUND HOSTED A GALA FOR 350 PEOPLE, ADDING TO OUR FOLLOWERS AND FURTHER RAISED MONEY FOR THE CAUSE. ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE EVENT BENEFIT THE PROGRAMS AND INITIATIVES OF MOLLY'S FUND. AN SEO SPECIALIST WAS HIRED IN FEBRUARY WHO AIDED MOLLY'S FUND FIGHTING LUPUS IN ENHANCING OUR WEB SITE AND FACEBOOK FOLLOWERS. IN FOUR MONTHS OUR FOLLOWERS WENT FROM 1,300 TO 7,000. THESE EFFORTS ALLOW US TO REACH OUT TO PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. IN ADDITION, OF THOSE WHO VISIT OUR SITE, 54% STAY ON THE SITE AND GATHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE DISEASE. THE VOICES OF LUPUS TRAVELING EDUCATIONAL EXHIBIT CONTINUED TO BE DISPLAYED THROUGHOUT THE NORTHWEST. THE DISPLAY APPEARED IN BOISE IDAHO FOR THE HEALTH, BEAUTY AND FITNESS FAIR; THE SHADES OF PINK WELLNESS EVENT IN PORTLAND, OREGON; THE AFRICAN AMERICAN WELLNESS VILLAGE IN PORTLAND, OREGON; AND THE SEATTLE INDIAN HEALTH BOARD'S HEALTH FAIR IN SEATTLE. SERVICES & PROGRAMS ONLINE AND LOCALLY, MOLLY'S FUND PROVIDED VITAL SUPPORT TO THOSE SUFFERING WITH LUPUS. MOLLY'S FUND CONDUCTED MONTHLY SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS FOR THOSE AFFLICTED WITH LUPUS IN PORTLAND, OREGON METROPOLITAN AREA. WE CREATED A NEW SUPPORT GROUP FOR FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND CAREGIVERS OF THOSE WITH LUPUS. WE ALSO CONDUCTED AN ONLINE SUPPORT GROUP TO HOST WEEKLY MEETINGS FOR LUPUS PATIENTS, THEIR FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CARE GIVERS.
