	Social: Eight major socail events were held in 2012. Some at Weekend sailing destinatons with an average participation of about 100 members. Social events increase opportunities for members to share their enthusiasm about the sport of sailing as well as the love of the water. Volunteers organize, facilitate and oversee these events. Smaller regional social events are held through the winter to keep members involved in the organization.

	Education Events: In the winter and early spring the organization focuses on education and training of members to improve skills for the coming season: sailing skills, boating safety, weather, maintenance of vessels are part of this educational experience. A major training day is held each spring at a local school and many speakers engage over 300 participants in this event. Volunteers organize and manage these educational events for members and for the community. Monthly winter brunches are also part of this endeavor.

	Cruising on the Chesapeake Bay: Weekend sails and day sails are the core activity of this organization. Sailing events are hosted most weekends from mid April to early November plus there are monthly mid-week daysails and a week long extended bay cruise. Numerous volunteers, including vessel owners who provide the boats and members who mentor and organize crew allow the fees and expenses to be kept low. Members crew the sailboats, developing skills and love for the Chesapeake Bay.
