What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? Cultural & Ethnic Awareness Programs: Wafu Ikebana Society is the California Chapter of the Wafu School of Ikebana, which is based in Japan. Wafukai members strive for exquisite harmony between the flowers, the container, and the environment in which the arrangement is displayed. Our chapter has 170 members. This year, between May 2012 and April 2013, we hosted our biennial flower show in Oct. 2012. We also hosted our first Wafu Workshop and participated in many exhibits throughout the San Francisco Bay Area to publicize our Wafu School of Ikebana. A few of our members are officers in sister Ikebana organizations in the San Francisco Bay area. Program income & expenses include our annual fundraising event, the biennial Flower Show, special classes, and a workshop. These events and exhibits provide to the general public an awareness of our organization; They also allow our members to enhance their skills and techniques for our biennial flower show.
