POLICY & REGULATORY ADVOCACY - WE PARTICIPATE IN UTAH'S ENERGY POLICY ARENA BY PROVIDING TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, EDUCATING THE PUBLIC AND STAKEHOLDERS, BUILDING COALITIONS, AND GARNERING MEDIA ATTENTION. WE ALSO INTERVENE IN UTAH'S UTILITY REGULATORY ARENA, ADVOCATING FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAMS FOR UTAH AND THE WESTERN REGION. IN 2012, THIS ENGAGEMENT ENABLED THE FOLLOWING SUCCESSES: - THANKS IN PART TO UTAH CLEAN ENERGY'S EFFORTS, ROCKY MOUNTAIN POWER INVESTED ALMOST 45 MILLION IN ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAMS, RESULTING IN ESTIMATED SAVINGS OF 255,000 MWH AND PREVENTING THE EMISSION OF 176,460 TONS OF CO2 PER YEAR FOR THE LIFE OF THE MEASURES. - IN 2012, THE UTAH PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION APPROVED A VASTLY EXPANDED SOLAR REBATE PROGRAM THAT WILL INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF SOLAR-PV ENERGY IN UTAH BY 600% OVER THE NEXT 5 YEARS. THIS MULTI-YEAR EFFORT WAS LED BY UTAH CLEAN ENERGY AND INVOLVED STRATEGIC COLLABORATION, MULTIPLE REGULATORY DOCKETS, AND OVER 170 STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGED IN REGULATORY PROCEEDINGS. AS A RESULT, OVER 50 MILLION OF UTILITY INCENTIVES WILL BE POURED INTO UTAH'S SOLAR MARKET TO SUPPORT 60MW OF NEW INSTALLATIONS, WHICH IN TURN WILL PREVENT OVER 1 MILLION TONS OF CARBON EMISSIONS THROUGH 2030. - UTAH CLEAN ENERGY HELPED ESTABLISH A NEW AND INNOVATIVE RENEWABLE ENERGY OPTION FOR LARGE ENERGY USERS (I.E. DATA CENTERS, LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, UNIVERSITIES, ETC.) TO OWN OR CONTRACT WITH REMOTELY LOCATED RENEWABLE ENERGY FACILITIES (GREATER THAN 2 MW) AND RECEIVE THE ASSOCIATED BENEFITS AT THEIR FACILITIES. WASATCH SOLAR CHALLENGE- UTAH CLEAN ENERGY CONTINUED ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY, SALT LAKE CITY, AND SALT LAKE COUNTY TO MAKE SOLAR ENERGY MORE AFFORDABLE AND REACH OUR GOAL OF 10 MEGAWATTS OF SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC INSTALLATIONS IN THE VALLEY BY 2015. WE ALSO ENGAGED PARK CITY, SUMMIT COUNTY, WEST VALLEY CITY, AND MIDVALE CITY TO IMPROVE THEIR SOLAR PERMITTING AND ZONING PROCESSES, MAKING IT EASIER FOR UTAH BUSINESSES AND HOMEOWNERS TO "GO SOLAR." INDUSTRIAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY - THE UTAH INDUSTRIAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECT IS DESIGNED TO HELP INDUSTRIAL COMPANIES MAKE VOLUNTARY COMMITMENTS TO REDUCE THEIR ENERGY INTENSITY AND EMISSIONS, AND PROVIDE TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AS THEY IMPLEMENT ENERGY-SAVING EFFORTS.
