CYNTHIA ZWICK, ACAA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, WROTE A LETTER TO SRP AND TESTIFIED BEFORE THE SRP BOARD. ADDITIONALLY, ACAA ORGANIZED COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO TESTIFY TO THE BOARD REGARDING THE NEGATIVE IMPACT THE RATE INCREASE WOULD HAVE ON THEIR FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY. AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE COMMUNITY MEMBERS TESTIMONIES, SRP VOTED TO ONLY RAISE THE RATE 3.9 PERCENT WHILE ALSO INCREASING THE DISCOUNT AMOUNT 24 ANNUALLY FOR LOW INCOME CUSTOMERS. ADDITIONALLY, SRP MADE A 400,000 CONTRIBUTION TO ACAA TO HELP LOW INCOME CUSTOMERS PAY THEIR BILLS WHEN THEY FALL BEHIND. SRP ALSO FUNDED A 100,000 STUDY ON EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR LOWERING UTILITY COSTS.
