THE HUMAN SERVICES CENTER CORPORATION IMPROVES THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR CHILDREN, ADULTS, AND FAMILIES IN THE MON VALLEY AREA. IT FULFILLS THIS MISSION IN FOUR WAYS: "SERVING AS A COLLABORATIVE LEADER BY PROMOTING AND SUPPORTING A NETWORK OF PROVIDERS WITHIN AND OUTSIDE THE WALLS OF ITS MULTI-PURPOSE CENTER. THIS PRESENTATION ENCOURAGED AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS TO BECOME TEACHERS. 60 PARTICIPANTS IN THIRD AND FOURTH GRADE ATTENDED A COOKING CLASS WITH THE PENN STATE COOPERATIVE EXTENSION WHERE THEY LEARNED HOW TO MAKE SEVERAL NUTRITIOUS SNACKS OR MEALS THAT THEY CAN MAKE AT HOME ON THEIR OWN. 120 PARTICIPANTS PARTICIPATED IN MULTIPLE ANTIVIOLENCE AND TEAMWORK ACTIVITIES WITH COMMUNITIES IN ACTION FOR PEACE 98% OF YOUTH ATTENDED AND TOOK PART IN THE ANNUAL KOOL SUMMER PROGRAM TALENT SHOW AND AWARDS PRESENTATION 100% YOUTH RECEIVED FREE, NEW BOOKS FROM READING IS FUNDAMENTAL (RIF) PITTSBURGH. 60 PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED AN INFO SESSION ABOUT "HANDS ONLY CPR." PARTICIPANTS LEARNED ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF CPR AND FIRST AID. 140 PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED COMMUNITY EDUCATION CLASSES WITH CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF PITTSBURGH TO LEARN ABOUT THE HOSPITAL AND UNDERSTAND THE POSITIVE ASPECTS OF WHAT IS OFFERED.
