Form 990, Part V, line 3b	The organization sells advertising in its magazine circulated to members. The direct circulation costs of the magazine exceed the advertising revenue earned. As such, the organization has gross income from an unrelated activity (advertising) that is regularly carried on but, in light of continuous losses sustained over a number of tax periods, cannot be regarded as being conducted with the motive to make a profit. For the 2013 tax year, total advertising revenue was $1,980 with direct circulation expenses of $10,397, resulting in a loss of $8,417.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 6	To become a Shriner of the Temple, a potential member must be a Master Mason in good standing of a Lodge recognized by or in amity with the Conference of Grand Masters of North America, and have resided within the jurisdiction of the Temple for not less than 6 months. All members must conform to the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws of Shriners Interantional and the Bylaws of the Temple.
