ORGANIZATION INFORMATION
IN OUR 156TH YEAR OF SERVICE, THE SCOTT COUNTY FAMILY Y CONTINUES TO RESPOND TO COMMUNITY NEEDS AND CHALLENGES WITH HIGH-QUALITY PROGRAMS PRICED AFFORDABLY AND MADE AVAILABLE TO ALL THROUGH FUNDRAISING AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, WE SERVED NEARLY 40,000 PEOPLE THROUGH MEMBERSHIP, AND OVER 50,000 THROUGH PROGRAMS AND SERVICES. IN TOTAL, WE PROVIDED $1,019,302 IN DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO SUPPORT KIDS, FAMILIES, ADULTS AND SENIORS. FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, WE PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES FOR BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, HIGH QUALITY CHILD CARE, PRESCHOOL AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS TO THE AT-RISK POPULATION INCLUDING A.C.E.S. (ACADEMIC COMPLETION FOR EMPOWERMENT AND SUCCESS) AND SOLUTIONS, WHICH IS OFFERED WITHIN SCHOOLS TO CHALLENGED STUDENTS WHO OTHERWISE WOULD FALL PREY TO THE "ACHIEVEMENT GAP" THAT OFTEN PLAGUES COMMUNITIES WHERE THESE SERVICES ARE NOT AVAILABLE. FOR HEALTHY LIVING WE INSTITUTED A NEW "INCOME-BASED MEMBERSHIP" PROGRAM THAT HAS MADE SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE MORE CONSISTENT AND STREAMLINED. IN OUR DOWNTOWN AND URBAN YMCA BRANCH, OVER 30% OF NEW MEMBERSHIPS - TWICE THAT OF PREVIOUS YEARS - ARE SUPPORTED THROUGH INCOME-BASED MEMBERSHIP. IN ADDTION, WE HAVE CONTINUED TO BOLSTER OUR PREVENTATIVE AND RECOVERY HEALTH PROGRAMS SERVING CANCER PATIENTS, THOSE WITH PARKINSONS, DIABETES AND OTHER LONG-TERM AND OFTEN COSTLY AFFLICTIONS. FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, WE CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE LEAD OF OUR 164 POLICY-LEVEL CORPORATE AND ADVISORY BOARD VOLUNTEERS, AS WELL AS NEARLY 3,000 PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS WHO CONTRIBUTED OVER 75,000 HOURS OF SERVICE. ULTIMATELY, THE GIFTS MADE BY OVER 1,300 DONORS ENABLE US TO SERVE OUR COMMUNITY BY BUILDING HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY FOR ALL.
