    Summary of Direct Charitable Activities
    List the foundation’s four largest direct charitable activities during the tax year. Include relevant statistical information such as the number of organizations and other beneficiaries served, conferences convened, research papers produced, etc. Expenses
    1 Lab research - There are two kinds of living organisms; Eukaryotes including humans and Prokaryotes including pathogenic bacteria. In our research, the CBRI is trying to find new antibiotics which target the ribosome recycling step of bacterial protein synthesis. During 2013, CBRI research was able to discover that one of the previously known fungal factors "elongation factor 3" is a ribosome recycling factor for fungus. Since this fungal specific factor is not present in humans, it will be a good target for new antibiotics. CBRI's research will now extend to the search for the antifungal agent. 215,145
    2 Conferences and Education - The results and discoveries of continued lab research were published in a reputed journal and presented at various conferences and meetings. CBRI employees and board members attended and made presentations during 2013 at conferences and meetings in Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore and Napa (CA) as well as China & Japan. Travel, lodging and meal expenses were incurred in the course of these charitable activities. In addition, expenses were incurred for a summer fellowship and guest lecturer. 2,255
