HEALTHY KIDS PROGRAM - Real Men Charities, Inc. provides education to promote healthy families and communities, in 10 different Chicago elementary schools via the Real Men Building Healthy Kids program. The primary goal is to reduce the possibility of obesity in the high risk community of Englewood. The program helped to change attitudes and habits to help promote health and decrease obesity. The program,promoted by men in schools, provides children with strong male image presence URBAN GREEN/EAT TO LIVE: Real Men Charities contiunes family health and wellness through urban green programs,which includes the alliance with the Eat to Live Urban Englewood Garden and Green Development. Healthy Eating,sustaining communities, jobs for men, advocacy and pride in the community are some of the program objectives. The phrase Everything Good Grows in Englewood, is one used as a mentor for children and the community. HEALTHY COOKING FOR TEENS & FAMILIES: Saturday Nutritional cooking classes for teens was a program with Beloved Community and Family Services. Male chefs and their assistants taught the basics and teens learned to cook a variety of healthy meals. Real Men Charities also provided healthy meals for Men's programs (Robert Douglass) complete with talks about men's health and the importance of fresh fruits and vegetables to advance health and fight diseases.
