Explanation
Organizational document changes Part VI line 4
The executive director has developed employment instructions for the Restore operation and for the Board of Directors of the organization. He has also worked with the accountant to structure the financial statements using a numbering system.
Form 990 governing body review Part VI line 11
Beginning in June, 2012, the Officers and Executive Director made the decision just to present a summary of income, expense, net gain (loss), and report of any delinquent homeowner payments due. As stated in other explanation, anyone can receive a copy of the Tax return (990) if they so desire and request the same.
Conflict of interest policy compliance Part VI line 12c
The only part of the organization that this could occur is at the Restore operation. In order to make certain there are no conflicts of interest, one of the Board members will visit the location in person so as to view all activities and who performs the same. This visit is normally made unannounced. If any problems of any sort exist, then the Restore Committee will resolve at their monthly meeting.
CEO executive director top management comp Part VI line 15a
This has already been addressed in another information screen. However, this was accomplished by meetings and/or discussions with other like organizations in adjacent cities to determine the appropriate compensation for this Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Activities and number of current homeowners and similiar objectives were considered in making the salary decision.
Other officer or key employee compensation Part VI line 15b
There is a Manager and an Assistant Manager for the Restore operation. We have a special committee for the Restore which meets at least every other month to review and discuss any major decisions for the entity. The information is reviewed with the employees involved and the next step is to take the motion to the voting Board of Directors for the final decision.
Governing documents etc available to public Part VI line 19
Upon the request of the general public or any contributor, a copy of the financial statements will be offered. The completed tax return is available to any of the governing body members at any time they wish to review the return. A copy is also given to the President upon completion.
Significant program services not listed on prior year return Part III line 2
Jackson County Habitat for Humanity opened a Restore Operation which is the same as a Thrift Store. We accept donations of items such as clothing, housewares, furniture, appliances, etc. We are opened to anyone who desires to purchase any of our items at a very reasonable and affordable price.
List of other expenses Part IX line 24e
Please refer to the Detailed Worksheet that is part of Part IX, line 24e on the return. The details of the amount on line 24e ($31,540) are listed in the appropriate section.
General explanation attachment
The governing body reviews the monthly financial statements at every meeting. The Treasurer is present and responds to any comments or questions that are presented. Also, a copy of the detailed financial statements are given to the governing body at every monthly meeting.
