Explanation
Form 990, Part III, Line 4d: Other Program Services Description
OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Bering Omega's Day Treatment Center provided 5,074 day care visits to 75 HIV + individuals. The center meets the health and social needs of people with HIV, who can not be left alone, preventing premature placement in nursing care facilities. Bering Omega's Volunteer Program recruits, screens, and places the unpaid human resources for the agency's programs. In 2013, over 75 individuals contributed over 2,381 hours in support of our work and our clients. Bering Omega provides a grant of $62,400 to Bering Support Network, a program of Bering United Memorial Church. This program provides counseling to HIV - affected community.
Form 990, Part VI, Line 11b: Form 990 Review Process
Initially the Form 990 is reviewed by the Accounting Manager and any pertinent questions and concerns are communicated to the tax preparer. Once the review by the Accounting Manager is complete the form is reviewed by the President and any questions or concerns are addressed to the Accounting Manager and if needed to the tax preparer. Lastly, a copy of the Form 990 is provided to the board prior to filing.
Form 990, Part VI, Line 12c: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts
In January of each year, all board of trustees are asked to review and sign the Bering Omega Community Services Conflict of Interest Questionnaire. The questionnaire addresses specific areas that include products or services, competition, employment or other positions, interests, investments, activities or situations that might constitute a conflict of interest. Board members agree to supplement the questionnaire, by promptly reporting to the President, any event or acceptance of any position which would render their signed statements inaccurate or incomplete in any respect.
Form 990, Part VI, Line 15a: Compensation Review & Approval Process - CEO, Top Management
Annually, the President of Bering Omega Community Services has a performance review process that is completed by the Chair of the Board, Vice Chair of the Board and chair elect board members. Many factors are considered in this annual review process that may include methodology compiled by the Chronicle of Philanthropy, Nonprofit Times and the United Way Nonprofit Connection of Greater Houston. At a minimum, this process considers the agencies annual operating budget, compensation data for management positions, compensation philosophies, number of agency employees, organizational performance, geographical considerations and individual performance goal attainment.
