28 THE WATERFORD POLICE UNION LOCAL 1948, IS A LABOR UNION WHICH COLLECTS WEEKLY DUES FROM ITS MEMBERSHIP. THE UNION THEN PAYS MONTHLY DUES TO UPSEU. EXTRA DUES ARE PLACED IN BANK ACCOUNTS. THIS MONEY IS USED FOR ATTORNEY FEES THAT MEMBERSHIP MIGHT NEED TO DEFEND CIVIL OR CRIMINAL SUITS. UNION MONEY IS ALSO DONATED TO THE COMMUNITY ON A MONTHLY BASIS FOR ACTIVITES SUCH AS YOUTH SPORTS, SCHOLARSHIPS, AND FAMILIES IN NEED.
