THE YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF THE PALM BEACHES, INC., IN HARMONY WITH THE YMCA NATIONAL PURPOSE AND JUDEO-CHRISTIAN VALUES, IS DEDICATED TO IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE THROUGH PROGRAMS AND SERVICES WHICH PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE TO REACH THEIR HIGHEST POTENTIAL, DEVELOP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE OF SELF AND OTHERS, APPRECIATE GOOD HEALTH AND FITNESS, ACQUIRE A VALUE SYSTEM AND MAINTAIN A SPIRITUAL AWARENESS THAT MANIFESTS ITSELF IN OUR DAILY LIVES. MISSION: TO PUT JUDEO-CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES INTO PRACTICE THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT BUILD HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY FOR ALL. IN TOTAL, 303,295 IN SCHOLARSHIPS AND SUBSIDIZED PROGRAMS WERE PROVIDED. VOLUNTEERS: IN 2013, 17 POLICY MAKING VOLUNTEERS DONATED 204 HOURS VALUED AT 5,100. THIS IS BASED ON THE ESTIMATED VALUE OF THEIR TIME AT 25 PER HOUR. IN 2013, NUMEROUS VOLUNTEERS DONATED THEIR TIME TO FURTHER THE PROGRAMS OF THE ASSOCIATION.

WHATEVER THE SPORT, THE FOCUS IS ON FULL AND EQUAL PARTICIPATION OF ALL: EVERY CHILD PLAYS IN EVERY GAME. WIN OR LOSE, YMCA YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAM EMPHASIZES DEVELOPMENT OF SKILL, HEALTH AND FITNESS, SAFETY, COOPERATION, SELF-ESTEEM, AND RESPECT FOR OTHERS. THE YMCA KNOWS THAT WITH THIS APPROACH EVERYONE WINS - UNDEFEATED IN SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY. AQUATICS: YMCA AQUATIC PROGRAMS ARE PART OF THE Y'S OVERALL GOAL OF BUILDING HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING SPECIFIC SWIMMING AND WATER SAFETY SKILLS, THEY PROMOTE GOOD HEALTH THROUGH REGULAR EXERCISE. THEY ALSO PROMOTE TEAMWORK, SELF-CONFIDENCE, AND LEADERSHIP. THESE PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED AT FEES AFFORDABLE TO THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE, WITH WAIVER OR REDUCTION OF FEES FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNABLE TO AFFORD THE FULL FEE. AS RESIDENTS OF SOUTH FLORIDA, PEOPLE IN THIS COMMUNITY COULD BE SUBJECT TO TRAUMATIC INCIDENTS AROUND WATER. OUR AQUATICS PROGRAMS HELP PREVENT DEATHS AND INJURIES. IN 2013, THE YMCA PROVIDED PROGRAMS FOR 721 PEOPLE. INFANTS THROUGH SENIORS LEARNED AQUATIC SURVIVAL SKILLS, TOOK PROGRESSIVE SWIM CLASSES, AND PARTICIPATED IN AQUATIC EXERCISE PROGRAMS. TEENS LEARNED LIFEGUARDING SKILLS IN OUR LIFEGUARDING CLASSES. FOR FAMILIES THAT CANNOT AFFORD THE FULL FEE, WAIVERS OR REDUCTION OF FEES IS AVAILABLE.
