FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION
UNITED WAY OF LARIMER COUNTY'S MISSION IS TO CULTIVATE AND MOBILIZE COMMUNITY RESOURCES TO CHANGE AND SAVE LIVES. OUR COMMUNITY GOAL IS TO CUT POVERTY IN HALF IN LARIMER COUNTY BY 2025. WE ARE COMMITTED TO REDUCING POVERTY AND CREATING PATHWAYS TO PROSPERITY THAT INCREASE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL PEOPLE IN LARIMER COUNTY TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. OUR FOCUS IS ON EDUCATION, INCOME, AND HEALTH - THE BUILDING BLOCKS FOR A GOOD QUALITY OF LIFE. WE BRING TOGETHER PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS WITH THE PASSION, EXPERTISE, AND RESOURCES TO ADDRESS THE UNDERLYING CAUSE OF COMPLEX COMMUNITY ISSUES AND CREATE LONG-TERM LASTING SOLUTIONS.

THE LONG TERM RECOVERY FUND FOR LARIMER COUNTY FLOODS WAS ESTABLISHED IN SEPTEMBER TO SUPPORT THE LONG TERM RECOVERY EFFORTS OF HOUSEHOLDS AFFECTED BY THE SEPTEMBER 2013 FLOODS. THE MISSION OF THE LTRG IS TO ADDRESS THE UNMET NEEDS OF THOSE WITHOUT RESOURCES TO REBUILD THEIR HOMES AND THEIR LIVES THROUGH A CASE MANAGEMENT PROCESS. CASE MANAGEMENT IS PROVIDED FROM COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS IN LARIMER COUNTY ORGANIZED TO PROVIDE COORDINATED MANAGEMENT OF THE LONG-TERM RECOVERY TO RESIDENTS AFFECTED BY THE FLOODING. THE SMALL BUSINESS RECOVERY FUND (SBRF) WAS ESTABLISHED IN JANUARY 2014 IN RESPONSE TO WIDE-SPREAD FLOODING ACROSS LARIMER COUNTY IN SEPTEMBER 2013. THE FUND PROVIDES URGENTLY NEEDED FINANCIAL AID, IN THE FORM OF RECOVERABLE GRANTS, TO SMALL BUSINESS IN LARIMER COUNTY THAT WERE AFFECTED BY THE DEVASTATING FLOODS, WITH THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF RESTORING VIBRANCY TO OUR BUSINESS COMMUNITY, RETAINING LOCAL JOBS AND PRESERVING THE VITALITY OF OUR NEIGHBORHOODS.

THE ESTIMATED VALUE FOR ONE HOUR OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE IS 22.14, ACCORDING TO THE CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE. WHEN TRANSLATED INTO DOLLAR IMPACT, UNITED WAY OF LARIMER COUNTY'S VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT TEAM FACILITATED THE EQUIVALENT OF 820,000 INVESTMENT INTO THE COMMUNITY THROUGH VOLUNTEER SERVICE. UNITED WAY AMERICORPS IS AN AMERICORPS STATE/NATIONAL PROGRAM THAT IS WORKING TO ADDRESS POVERTY IN LARIMER COUNTY THROUGH VOLUNTEERISM AND VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT. UNITED WAY PROVIDED AMERICORPS MEMBERS TO 10 DIFFERENT NONPROFITS IN LARIMER COUNTY IN THE 2013-2014 FISCAL YEAR. MAKE CHANGE NOCO IS A COMMUNITY-DRIVEN FINANCIAL EDUCATION INITIATIVE LED BY COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION, LARIMER COUNTY, AND UNITED WAY OF LARIMER COUNTY. MAKE CHANGE WORKS TO INCREASE THE ACCESSIBILITY, AVAILABILITY, COORDINATION, AND QUALITY OF FINANCIAL EDUCATION RESOURCES AND SERVICES FOR ALL NORTHERN COLORADO RESIDENTS.
