FOUNDED IN 1996, ARTWORKS' MISSION IS TO EMPOWER AND INSPIRE THE CREATIVE COMMUNITY TO TRANSFORM OUR EVERYDAY ENVIRONMENTS THROUGH EMPLOYMENT, APPRENTICESHIPS, EDUCATION, COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT. OUR VISION IS TO BE THE CREATIVE AND ECONOMIC ENGINE WHICH UNITES CITIZENS TO TRANSFORM OUR REGION. OVER THE PAST EIGHTEEN YEARS, ARTWORKS HAS HIRED AND TRAINED OVER 2,500 LOCAL YOUTH AND 650 PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS TO CREATE ART AND IMPACT THE COMMUNITY. ACCORDING TO OHIO-KENTUCKY-INDIANA REGIONAL COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS TRAFFIC COUNT, AN ESTIMATED 2.78 MILLION CARS DRIVE BY ARTWORKS' MURALS ANNUALLY. ARTWORKS ARTRX PROGRAM IS GROUNDED IN THE PRINCIPLE THAT THE POWER OF ART ENHANCES THE QUALITY OF LIFE. ARTWORKS HAS TRANSFORMED OVER 20 REGIONAL HEALTHCARE AND WELLNESS ENVIRONMENTS FOR PATIENTS, FAMILIES AND STAFF WITH OVER 1,000 WORKS OF ART TO IMPROVE THEIR HEALTHCARE EXPERIENCE. IN 2013, ARTWORKS PRODUCED 10 NEW MURALS, 5 ARTISTIC BIKE RACKS, 5 TRANSFORMED AUTOMOBILES THROUGH ITS ART CARS PROJECT, AND ALSO PARTNERED WITH SORTA METRO TO TRANSFORM 24 BLIGHT BUS SHELTERS WITH WORKS OF LITERARY ART. FOR ARTRX, ARTWORKS TRANSFORMED 6 HEALTHCARE ENVIRONMENTS WITH 130 WORKS OF ART. FOR HERO DESIGN COMPANY, ARTWORKS PRODUCED 123 CAPES. FOR CREATIVE ENTERPRISE, ARTWORKS GRADUATED 72 CREATIVE ENTREPRENEURS AND AREA ARTISTS FROM OUR NINE-WEEK BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COURSE.
