TALL SHIPS: THE TALL SHIPS "PEACEMAKER AND DENIS SULLIVAN" WERE IN MARQUETTE FOR A WEEKEND TO PROVIDE DECK TOURS AND TWO HOUR SAILS FOR THE COMMUNITY TO STEP BACK IN TIME TO SEE WHAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE IN THE AGE OF SAIL IN MARQUETTE. LIGHTHOUSE TOURS: FOUR TO FIVE GUIDED TOURS ARE HELD EVERY DAY, MAY THROUGH OCTOBER. HISTORICALLY NARRATED TOURS ARE 45 MINUTES OF EARLY LIFE SAVING, COAST GUARD AND LIGHHOUSE HISTORY. 4,415 VISITORS PARTICIPATED IN THE TOURS, 1,300 OF THEM BEING SCHOOL CHILDREN. MUSEUM TOURS: 7,532 VISITORS PARTICIPATED IN SELF GUIDED TOURS OF THE MUSEUM. UPON SPECIAL REQUEST, NARRATED TOURS ARE AVAILABLE. ONGOING WORK IS DONE ON THE PERMANENT DISPLAY AND MCCLINTOCK PROJECT. MARITIME MONTH WAS HELD DURING AUGUST TO CELEBRATE THE MARITIME HISTORY OF THE AREA. THIS INCLUDED THEMED SATURDAYS WITH SPECIAL VIDEOS AND GIVEAWAYS, SPECIAL COSTUMED EVENING LIGHTHOUSE TOURS, BOOK SIGNING FROM THE AUTHOR OF CRUISERS FOR BREAKFAST AND KID'S DAY, WHERE KIDS WERE GIVEN FREE ADMISSION TO THE MUSEUM. CONNOR TOWER MEMORIAL: CONNING TOWER WAS DISMANTLED FOR RUSTPROOFING AND REPAINTING. KIDIFICATION: THIS NEW PROGRAM INCLUDED FAMILY FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES SUCH AS A PIRATE SCAVENGER HUNT, TREASURE MAP FOR GOLD, CRAFT AREA, SHIPPING CHEST WITH MULTIPLE ACTIVITIES, LIGHTHOUSE CHEST WITH ACTIVITIES AND A DRESS UP CHEST. LIGHTHOUSE BRICKS IS A FUNDRAISER FOR RESTORATION OF THE LIGHTHOUSE. AN ENGRAVED BRICK CAN BE PURCHASED TO HELP CREATE A WALKWAY UP TO THE LIGHTHOUSE.
