ADVOCACY ARIZONA PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT TASK FORCE: IN JANUARY 2012, EXPECT MORE ARIZONA CAME TOGETHER WITH OVER TWO DOZEN EDUCATION AND BUSINESS PARTNERS WITH THE GOAL OF CREATING A MORE UNIFIED VOICE ON KEY EDUCATION ADVOCACY ISSUES. THE RESULT WAS THE LAUNCH OF THE ARIZONA PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT TASK FORCE, WHICH IS CURRENTLY COMPRISED OF 50 PARTNERS STATEWIDE. THE TASK FORCE HAS TAKEN THE LEAD ON BUILDING A COLLEGE AND CAREER READY CULTURE IN ARIZONA, WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON SUPPORTING ARIZONA'S COLLEGE AND CAREER READY STANDARDS AND AN ALIGNED ASSESSMENT. ARIZONA AIMS HIGHER: THE ARIZONA PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT TASK FORCE LAUNCHED ARIZONA AIMS HIGHER, A NEW CAMPAIGN TO HELP PARENTS, EDUCATORS, AND COMMUNITY AND BUSINESS LEADERS LEARN MORE AND TO TAKE ACTION TO SUPPORT THE STANDARDS AND ASSESSMENT. PROGRESS IN BULDING THE MOVEMENT ADVANCING A SHARED VISION & GROWING THE MOVEMENT EXPECT MORE ARIZONA HAS SIGNIFICANTLY GROWN ITS REACH ACROSS THE STATE OVER THE LAST 2+ YEARS, ADDING AN OUTREACH STAFF OF 5 AND EXPONENTIALLY GROWING ITS FOLLOWING BY OVER 300%. -EDUCATION REMAINS A TOP PRIORITY FOR ARIZONANS, RANKING SECOND BEHIND IMMIGRATION ISSUES. -MORE THAN 6 IN 10 VOTERS SAY EDUCATION IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT OR A VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE IN DECIDING HOW TO VOTE IN 2014. -FUNDING FOR EDUCATION IS THE TOP EDUCATION CONCERN FOR ARIZONA VOTERS. -PARTNERING WITH 60+ ORGANIZATIONS TO ADVANCE A SHARED VISION AND ADVOCATE ON KEY ISSUES. ADVOCACY OVER THE LAST 2+ YEARS, EXPECT MORE ARIZONA CREATED AN ADVOCACY AGENDA AND LED THE DEVELOPMENT OF A STATEWIDE COALITION CALLED THE ARIZONA PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT TASK FORCE TO SUPPORT ARIZONA'S COLLEGE AND CAREER READY STANDARDS AND A NEW ASSESSMENT. TOGETHER, THE COALITION LAUNCHED A CAMPAIGN CALLED ARIZONA AIMS HIGHER AND WORKED TOGETHER TO PROTECT THE STANDARDS AND INCREASE PUBLIC SUPPORT: -SECURED OVER 150 PIECES OF EARNED MEDIA THROUGHOUT 2014 LEGISLATIVE SESSION -PRESERVED ARIZONA'S COLLEGE AND CAREER READY STANDARDS (COMMON CORE) AND SUPPORTED THE TRANSITION TO A NEW ASSESSMENT, DESPITE 8 BILLS BEING INTRODUCED TO STOP OR STALL THEIR IMPLEMENTATION -MOBILIZED 620 ATTENDEES TO ATTEND THREE LEGISLATIVE EVENTS (MARCH 2013, OCTOBER 2013, FEBRUARY 2014) -LOGGED AT LEAST 430 COMMENTS ON RECORD IN SUPPORT OF THE STANDARDS AND ASSESSMENTS IN THE REQUEST TO SPEAK SYSTEM. (MARCH 2013 AND FEBRUARY 2014) -LOGGED 5,068 SIGN UPS AND SHARES ON ARIZONAAIMSHIGHER.ORG -2,000 POSTCARDS AND EMAILS SENT TO THE LEGISLATURE -CREATED A PLATFORM FOR TEACHER ADVOCACY BY ENGAGING EDUCATORS TO SHARE THEIR STORIES, USING THEIR VOICES TO SUPPORT EDUCATION POLICY, AND PROVIDING RESOURCES TO ENGAGE THE PARENTS AND FAMILIES OF THE STUDENTS THEY SERVE. VOTER, PARENT & FAMILY OUTREACH THROUGH ITS EXPANDED CAPACITY, EXPECT MORE ARIZONA NOW REACHES VOTERS AND PARENTS ACROSS THE STATE TO BUILD SUPPORT FOR WORLD-CLASS EDUCATION FOR ALL STUDENTS AND TO PROVIDE VALUABLE RESOURCES TO HELP STUDENTS SUCCEED.
