Facts And Circumstances Test
PENNSYLVANIA ACADEMY OF SCIENCE DESIGNED THE DUES STRUCTURE TO ENROLL A SUBSTANTIAL NUMBER OF PERSONS FROM THE COMMUNITY. THE ORGANIZATION APPEALS TO A WIDE RANGE OF THE COMMUNITY, INCLUDING STUDENTS, FACULTY AND CORPORATE MEMBERS. DUES RATES ARE SET AT A FIXED AMOUNT BASED ON THE TYPE OF MEMBER, WHICH ALLOWS FOR BETTER ATTAINMENT OF A WIDE RANGE OF COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. ALL MEMBERS HAVE THE SAME COMMON INTEREST OR PURPOSE INCLUDING ADVANCE THE PURSUIT AND APPLICATION OF SCIENCE WITHIN THE COMMONWEALTH, ENHANCE THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF ITS MEMBERS, FACILITATE FORUMS FOR PROFESSIONAL DIALOGUE AMONG JUNIOR AND SENIOR SCIENTISTS AT ALL ACADEMIC LEVELS, PROMOTE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION AMONG ITS MEMBERS AND THE PUBLIC AT LARGE, AND SUPPORT EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES DEVOTED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENTIFIC SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE.

ACTIVE MEMBERS: MEMBERS WHOSE CURRENT DUES ARE PAID ARE ACTIVE MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING AND SHALL ENJOY ALL RIGHTS, PRIVILEGES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF MEMBERSHIP IN THE ACADEMY INCLUDING SUBSCRIPTION TO THE ACADEMY'S JOURNAL AND NEWSLETTER. EMERITUS MEMBERS: IN ORDER TO OBTAIN EMERITUS STATUS, A MEMBER SHALL REQUEST IT IN WRITING INDICATING THE LENGTH OF MEMBERSHIP IN THE ACADEMY AND THE ACTIVITIES IN WHICH THE MEMBER PARTICIPATED. SUCH A REQUEST SHALL BE FORWARDED TO THE CORRESPONDING SECRETARY NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 1 IF IT IS TO TAKE EFFECT ON JANUARY 1 OF THE FOLLOWING CALENDAR YEAR.
