TakeActions Together for Health team is working to expand access to affordable health coverage in Minnesota and take full advantage of the Affordable Care Act in Minnesota. In 2013, we helped create one of the most consumer-friendly Health Exchanges in the country. We fully expanded Medical Assistance to extend health coverage to thousands of very low-income Minnesotans and helped create the first Basic Health Program in the country, which preserved and improved the states MinnesotaCare program.J4A aims to change hiring practices that discriminate against those with a criminal record. Our Justice 4 All leadership team, composed almost exclusively of individuals with criminal records, has been winning victories since our public campaign launch in 2011. We passed Ban the Box legislation in the Minnesota legislature to prevent employers from discriminating against applicants with a criminal record, and we persuaded Target Corporation to change its hiring practices to welcome more returning citizens. With this popular education campaign, TakeAction trains people around the state to make more sound decisions as community members, voters and grassroots activists. Our goal is to reduce the power of corporations in public policy and elections, increase the voice of working people and the poor, and win much needed increase in progressive state revenue. Our team played a key role in raising Minnesotas minimum wage in 2013, and helping pass a tax bill that closed more than $400 billion in corporate tax loopholes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote Income TaxTakeAction Minnesota has a tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code and has adopted Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes, ASC 740-10. The Organization's policy is to evaluate uncertain tax positions, at least annually, for the potential for income tax exposure from unrelated business income or from loss of nonprofit status. The Organization continues to operate consistent with its original exemption application and each year takes the necessary actions to maintain its exempt status. It has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under the Internal Revenue Code and charitable contributions by donors are tax deductible.
