THE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP COURSE FOR VETERANS (CLCV) IS A NEW INITIATIVE OF LEADERSHIP PITTSBURGH INC. AIMED AT LEVERAGING THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE OF POST 9/11 VETERANS BY EXPOSING THEM TO NEW LEADERSHIP NETWORKS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR SERVICE TO SOUTHWESTERN PENNSYLVANIA COMMUNITY, AND FAST-TRACKING THEIR SUCCESS IN THE REGION AS HIGH-POTENTIAL LEADERS. THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN THE SIX MONTH LONG COURSE, CLCV PARTICIPANTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET WITH REGIONAL BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS, ESTABLISH A GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF REGIONAL BUSINESS AND NONPROFIT ISSUES AND TRENDS, AND UTILIZE THEIR LEADERSHIP SKILLS TO ACCOMPLISH A COMMUNITY IMPACT PROJECT FOR A LOCAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION. THE ASSOCIATIONS AND EDUCATION OBTAINED THROUGH CLCV WILL PROVIDE CLCV PARTICIPANTS THE PLATFORM NEEDED TO TAKE ON LEADERSHIP ROLES WITHIN THE SOUTHWESTERN PENNSYLVANIA BUSINESS AND NONPROFIT COMMUNITIES. ALSO, EACH CLCV PARTICIPANT HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO NETWORK WITH A SELECT GROUP OF COMMUNITY CONNECTORS. COMMUNITY CONNECTORS ARE SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS AND CIVIC LEADERS THAT WILL ENGAGE WITH CLCV PARTICIPANTS IN INFORMAL SETTINGS AT SEVERAL POINTS DURING THE SIX-MONTH COURSE.
