The CRDA leads a global marketing effort to attract and retain world-class businesses and talent to the Charleston region. In FY12-13, we participated in 19 marketing events across the U.S., western Europe, Japan, Brazil and Canada; drove an international media outreach effort resulting in over 22 million impressions and 23 placements in high-profile media outlets; produced targeted research and promotional materials, and convened dozens of regional leaders to address key economic development issues. We also facilitated six economic development projects resulting in $657 million in new capital investment and 566 direct jobs.

Charter TravelThe Charleston Regional Development Alliance (CRDA) facilitated an intercity visit to Raleigh, NC for a delegation of 11 top business, academic and community leaders from the Charleston area. The group met with several Raleigh-area business and academic leaders to learn how they have effectively led that regions economic development efforts over the past several years. Since there are not direct flights from Charleston to Raleigh, the CRDA chartered a private plane to expedite travel between the two cities, thereby maximizing time on the ground. The CRDA was reimbursed $1,200 from each of the trip participants. Social Club DuesCorporate membership in a dining and golf course facility used for business lunches, dinners and golf by CEO and other employees for hosting business prospects.
