IN JUNE, FBA PRESENTED THE FIRST OF TWO INFORMAL STUDIO LECTURE PERFORMANCES: 1) "DANCES WITH MEL TOMLINSON", FORMER DANCER WITH NEW YORK CITY BALLET, ALVIN AILEY AND DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM; IN SEPTEMBER: 2) REGIONAL DANCE AMERICA, SHOWING PIECES TO BE PRESENTED IN TEXAS. FBA AUDITIONED FOR AND WAS SELECTED TO BE ACCEPTED INTO THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION, REGIONAL DANCE AMERICA, THE ONLY DANCE COMPANY FROM NEW MEXICO TO HOLD THIS HONOR. FBA WAS GRANTED PERMISSION FROM THE GEORGE BALANCHINE TRUST IN NYC TO PERFORM THE FIRST MOVEMENT OF BALANCHINE'S ICONIC SIGNATURE WORK "SERENADE" ON THE SAME PROGRAM AS ORIGINALLY CHOREOGRAPHED "FIREBIRD BALLET". FESTIVAL BALLET ALBUQUERQUE PERFORMED ONSTAGE WITH AND AS GUESTS OF THE FIGUEROA MUSIC AND ARTS PROJECT IN NOVEMBER AT THE NHCC. "THE NUTCRACKER IN THE LAND OF ENCHANTMENT" WAS PRESENTED IN 5 PERFORMANCES WITH LIVE ORCHESTRA AT THE NHCC IN DECEMBER . FBA PROVIDED PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES FOR OVER 100 DANCERS (INCLUDING 37 PAID PROFESSIONALS), 50 PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS, 6 CHOREOGRAPHERS, 20 STAGE AND TECHNICAL CREW, 6 COSTUME DESIGNERS AND 12 REHEARSAL COACHES. PERFORMANCES WERE PRESENTED TO OVER 16,400 AUDIENCE MEMBERS.
