IN 2013, THAT TRANSLATED INTO OVER $300,000 IN DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO 250 INDIVIDUALS IN OUR COMMUNITY, PRIMARILY FOR SUMMER DAY CAMP AND CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE. THE WESTFIELD AREA Y OFFERS SAFE AND NURTURING FULL AND HALF DAY CHILD CARE PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN, AGES 6 MONTHS THROUGH FIVE YEARS. THE Y OFFERS KINDERGARTEN AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS AS WELL AS A WIDE VARIETY OF ENRICHING PRESCHOOL, YOUTH, TEEN AND FAMILY PROGRAMS RANGING FROM SPORTS TO SWIMMING, TEEN ACTIVITIES, SUMMER DAY CAMP AND MORE. FOR ADULTS AND SENIORS, THE Y OFFERS A COMPLETE RANGE OF CARDIOVASCULAR AND STRENGTH TRAINING EQUIPMENT, FITNESS CLASSES SUCH AS YOGA AND CYCLING AND SPORTS AND WELLNESS ACTIVITIES.

THEY SERVE FOR 3-YEAR TERMS, RENEWABLE FOR UP TO THREE TERMS. THEY CAN ALSO SERVE THEREAFTER FOR ONE-YEAR TERMS AS LONG AS THEY CHAIR A BOARD COMMITTEE. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS A NOMINATING COMMITTEE WHICH SUGGESTS POTENTIAL MEMBERS TO THE BOARD. AFTER NOMINATION, THE COMPLETE BOARD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR EVALUATION, REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF THE CANDIDATE. ANY DECISIONS OF THE GOVERNING BODY ARE SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS DURING BOARD MEETINGS. DURING THE YEAR, AT LEAST 5 FULL BOARD MEETINGS ARE HELD.
