Explanation:
We are writing in response to notice CP259A, dated September 15, 2014, concerning Tax form 990 for tax period June 30, 2014. We regret that we were delinquent in filing our form 990. Due to high turnover in the position of Quartermaster Bookkeeper, and lack of knowledge in procedures and deadlines we were late in filing. We have since rectified our decencies in this area. We have also set up a calendar with deadlines and commitments so this problem will be mitigated. We are asking that the penalty that was imposed be waived due to our unfortunate circumstances. We are a not for profit veterans organization that relies on volunteer contributions of time and resources. We feel that if we are forced to pay this penalty it could detrimentally affect our service to the community and our veterans that rely on our services. We were unaware this filing was delinquent until we received this notice. Thank you for considering our request.
