Facts And Circumstances Test
STATEMENT REGARDING THE WOMEN'S BIBLE SOCIETY OF NEW YORK SATISFACTION OF THE PUBLIC SUPPORT REQUIREMENT - SECTION 1.170A-9T (F) (3) - 10% FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES TESTTHE PURPOSE OF THIS STATEMENT IS TO PROVIDE DETAILED INFORMATION SUPPORTING THE CONTINUED QUALIFICATION OF THE WOMEN'S BIBLE SOCIETY OF NEW YORK AS A PUBLIC CHARITY THROUGH MEETING REQUIREMENTS OF THE "10% FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES TEST". THE WOMEN'S BIBLE SOCIETY OF NEW YORK (EIN 13-1624136) WAS FORMED IN 1816 AND INCORPORATED IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK IN 1877 AS A 501(C)(3) WITH THE PURPOSE OF SPREADING GOD'S ETERNAL WORD TO THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY THROUGH PUBLIC PROCLAMATION, TEACHING AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE BIBLE. ALTHOUGH THE SOCIETY'S PUBLIC SUPPORT PERCENTAGE FELL BELOW 33.3% FOR TAX YEARS 2011, 2012, AND 2013. THE SOCIETY IS EXPANDING EFFORTS TO GAIN PUBLIC SUPPORT THROUGH EVENTS AND THE RECOGNITION GENERATED BY ITS BIBLE VERSE SUBWAY SIGNS. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT DURING THIS TIME THE SOCIETY CONTINUED TO FULLY SUPPORT ITS MINISTRY PARTNERS, CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS, AND TRANSIT CAMPAIGNS. WITH THE INFORMATION PROVIDED BELOW THE WOMEN'S BIBLE SOCIETY OF NEW YORK SETS FORTH TO DEMONSTRATE THE SOCIETY'S CAPACITY TO SATISFY THE ELEMENTS OF THE 10% FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES TEST AS DESCRIBED IN REGULATION SECTION 1.170A-T(F)(3) AND CONTINUE TO OPERATE AS A PUBLIC CHARITY.1) THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF GOVERNMENTAL AND PUBLIC SUPPORT NORMALLY RECEIVED BY THE ORGANIZATION IS AT LEAST 10% OF ITS SUPPORT NORMALLY RECEIVED:THE SOCIETY HAS CONTINUALLY MET AND EXCEEDED THIS ELEMENT OF THE TEST. IN FACT, FOR THE THREE YEARS IN QUESTION, 2011, 2012, AND 2013 THE SOCIETY'S PUBLIC SUPPORT LEVELS FAR EXCEEDED 10% OF THE REQUIRED MINIMUM PUBLIC SUPPORT PERCENTAGE TO BE CONSIDERED SUBSTANTIALLY SUPPORTED BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC (23.97%, 26.89% AND 25.88% RESPECTIVELY). WITH INCREASED EFFORTS FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND ADDITIONAL FUNDING OF THE TRANSIT CAMPAIGN, THE SOCIETY EXPECTS TO EXPAND ITS FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES AND CONTINUE TO INCREASE ITS PUBLIC SUPPORT PERCENTAGE.2) THE ORGANIZATION HAS A CONTINUOUS AND BONA-FIDE PROGRAM FOR SOLICITATION OF FUNDS FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC, GOVERNMENTAL UNITS, OR PUBLIC CHARITIES:THE SOCIETY HAS UNDERGONE A SIGNIFICANT REVITALIZATION OF ITS TRANSIT CAMPAIGN WHICH HAS BEEN DUE IN PART TO A CURRENTLY EXPANDING BOARD OF TRUSTEES WHICH HAS HAD THE EFFECT OF GENERATING INNOVATIVE FUNDRAISING IDEAS. VIA THE TRANSIT CAMPAIGN DURING FISCAL YEAR 2012 THERE HAS BEEN INCREASED PUBLIC AWARENESS AND SUPPORT FOR THE SOCIETY IN FISCAL 2013. THE TRANSIT CAMPAIGN TOOK PLACE AGAIN IN SPRING 2014. THIS WILL ENABLE THE SOCIETY TO ATTRACT NEW AND ADDITIONAL SUPPORT ON A CONTINUOUS BASIS. THE SOCIETY HAS ALSO CREATED AND DISPLAYED A VIDEO EXPLAINING ITS MISSION AT ITS DONOR EVENTS AND ON THE SOCIETY WEBSITE. THE SOCIETY HAS ALSO RECENTLY LAUNCHED A MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL DRIVE WHICH WILL INCREASE PUBLIC SUPPORT. 3)EXPANSION OF THE BOARD TO ADDITIONAL MEMBERS IS UNDERWAY, TARGETING NEW MEMBERS FROM DIVERSE SECTORS WHO WILL PROVIDE CRITICAL LINKS TO PUBLIC SUPPORT OF THE SOCIETY'S MISSION.
