Explanation
Form 990, Part III, Line 4a, Program Service Accomplishments:
In 2013, OBCP implemented the fifth Palestinian-Israel Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), working with 16 women leaders from Israel and the West Bank for a one year experiential learning and leadership development program. OBCP facilitated the fourth Connecting the Hub retreat, bringing together 25 members from the first, second, third fourth, and fifth cadres of the ELP from the business, political, religious and civil sectors and women leaders from across various sectors. 2013 was also the second year OBCP hosted its annual Practicum on Experiential Peacebuilding (PEP), a 10-day expedition program for conflict resolution professionals and students. Ten students participated in the second PEP, delivered in partnership with Outward Bound Costa Rica, including individuals from Rwanda, Ethiopia, Brazil, Colombia, and the US. Through these programs, OBCP sustained successful partnerships with great organizations including Outward Bound Croatia, Outward Bound Costa Rica, The United Nations University for Peace in Costa Rica, and Search for Common Ground Jerusalem.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11
The Board of Directors reviews form 990 upon its completion by the Accountant. All changes and revisions noted by the Board are forwarded to the Accountant so that the revisions can be made. Once the revised 990 is received, management reviews it to ensure that it is in accordance with the recommended changes. The revised form 990 is then forwarded to the Board members for final review and approval. Upon approval by the Board, form 990 is then filed by management after it as been duly signed by the appropriate officials of Outward Bound Center for Peacebuilding.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c
All directors and officers are required to submit a conflict of interest disclosure statement to the Board Chairman annually. These statements are reviewed by the Board chairman.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15
The Board of Directors reviews and approves the compensation of the Executive Director and other employees annually.
Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19
The organization's governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements are available to the public upon request. The organization's form 990 is available upon request and through another website (www.guidestar.org).
Part XII, Line 2C
OBCP's Board of Directors is responsible for the selection of an independent accountant to be used for the annual audit of OBCP's financial statements. OBCP's Finance Committee reviews a draft of the audited financial statements as soon as it is ready and makes changes as necessary. The changes are then forwarded to the auditor who revises the financial statements based on those changes. The revised audited financial statements are forwarded to the Board of Directors for review and approval. Upon approval, a signed version of the audited financial statements is obtained from the Auditor. This process is followed consistently by OBCP and there has been no change in this process from the prior year.
