| Part VI, Section B. - Questions 15A & 15B | 15A. Yes. The General Manager, and the executive Committee of the Club (President, VP, Treasurer, and Secretary), seek out compensation comparability studies from the other peer clubs in the area to help determine compenstion for the General Manager/COO. All other employee's Comp levels are determined by the GM with input and feedback from the associated committee personnel. We have used comp studies provided to us by our accounting firm in order to help with the process. In terms of review of performance, the GM's performance is reviewed and discussed in detail with the executive Committee. The GM's annual bonus amount is decided after collaboration and discussion surrounding said performance alongside the metrics for performance (specific areas, goals, targets) set up by the Executive Committee year over year. 15B. Yes. The General Manager reviews each Dept. Managers performance at least annually in a formal sense. Some Dept. Managers request quarterly reviews as well. There is a strong and on-going effort to create specific goals and metrics for each Dept manager throughout the year. The creation of those goals and metrics is a collaboration between the employee him/herself, myself and the Committee Chair. For example, the House Committee Chairperson, Chef and I will look at clubs historical financials and the future revenue projections to determine a common food cost percentage to set as a target (for which part of the Chef's bonus is based on). I also reach out to other GM's to compare their targets, and as well lean heavily on CMAA, and Condon O'Meara, McGinty, & Donnelly for industry standard benchmarks by region. The Base salary is determined by industry standard after through review of our clubs budget, in conjunction with comparative studies from the same sources as listed above. |
