Explanation
This description is for Part II line 10 which totals 10,829. The bulk of this other income was a play, called God's Trombones, put on to help the agency with their capital needs. The play was financially unsuccessful as it only made the funds to recover the expenses spent to produce the play.

Explanation:
Another Choice is a non-profit organization that relies on Federal and State funds to operate. Our agency had an outcomes based contract with the state to provide post adoption services for over 16 years in four regions in the state. We met the stated goals of the program each year and as a result, we have a disruption rate of less than 2% which is lower than the national average. In July 2011, the state reduced our post adoption funding significantly and in SFY 2012 terminated full funding which impacted our operation and program. 86% of the families we serve are from Mecklenburg County (the largest county in the state). The state withdrew all of the funding for this area, which has forced us to use our general operating revenue to meet the needs of these families. The children served in this area are primarily African American sibling groups, teenagers and children over the age of 10. These budget cuts have been detrimental to the survival of the agency. Although we were able to make cuts (staff, services and general operation) to survive, the aforementioned budget cuts have left us with barely enough resources to operate and meet the day to day needs of the organization. Through a lot realigning, revamping and networking with businesses and organizations, we have begun to stabilize/improve our financial situation. This has enabled us to have adequate funding to secure essential audits and complete tax returns. We do anticipate that future returns will be completed as mandated.
