PRIDEFEST IS TYPICALLY A MULTI-DAY CELEBRATION OF THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY, CONCLUDING WITH A SUNDAY DAY-LONG "PARK PARTY" IN BOULDER'S CENTRAL PARK. EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE PARK PARTY HAVE INCLUDED FILM FESTIVALS, POT LUCK DINNERS AND OTHER SOCIAL AND/OR CELEBRATORY GATHERINGS. THE CONCLUDING EVENT, WITH VENDORS, NON-PROFIT SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS, ENTERTAINERS AND FAMILY EVENTS, IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE COLORADO FRONT RANGE LGBTQ COMMUNITIES AND THE COMMUNITY-AT-LARGE. IN 2013 AFTER ALL THE PLANNING AND ORGANIZING FOR THE SEPTEMBER EVENT WAS IN PLACE BOULDER WAS STRICKEN WITH A MASSIVE FLOOD. THE EVENT HAD TO BE CANCELLED AND WAS RESCHEDULED TO A ONE-DAY EVENT IN NOVEMBER. WE ESTIMATE THAT THERE WERE 3,000 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE.

THE IMPLEMENTATION OF OUT BOULDER'S "PUBLIC EDUCATION" MISSION STATEMENT IS THROUGH A VARIETY OF PUBLIC EDUCATION ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND PROGRAMS, INCLUDING ISSUE ADVOCACY, ALLY INITIATIVES, COMMUNICATIONS (INCLUDING THE ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTER), AND EXTERNAL COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS, PUBLIC EVENTS, OUTREACH, TRANSGENDER AWARENESS AND THE SIGNATURE SPEAKING OUT PROGRAM. EXAMPLES OF PUBLIC EDUCATION START WITH THE ON-GOING SPEAKING OUT PROGRAM THAT, IN 2013, REACHED APPROXIMATELY 1,000 PEOPLE THROUGH PANELS AND COMMUNITY TRAININGS. OUR TRANSGENDER AWARENESS WEEK INCLUDED TEN EVENTS THAT DREW APPROXIMATELY 400 PEOPLE. OUR HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAM ORGANIZED AND PRESENTED A HEALTH FAIR WITH OVER 100 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE.

BOLD (BOULDER OUT LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT) IS OUT BOULDER'S MAJOR YOUTH PROGRAM. BASED ON THE "BEST PRACTICES" RESILIENCY MODEL, THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO HELP YOUTH THRIVE AND FLOURISH IN THEIR PERSONAL LIVES AND IN THE BROADER COMMUNITY, NOW AND IN THE FUTURE. IN 2013, BOLD SAW A CONSISTENT NUMBER OF YOUTH PARTICIPANTS (AVERAGING 20 PER MONTH) IN ITS REGULAR ACTIVITIES OF THE FILM MAKING PROJECT, THE DO-IT-YOURSELF ZINE MAKING PROJECT TO THE DROP-IN CENTER. YOUTH PLANNED TWO EVENTS INCLUDING THE NIGHT OF NOISE AND A SPECIAL EVENT AT PRIDEFEST.

OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES INCLUDE MAINTENANCE OF A COMMUNITY CENTER (THE PRIDEHOUSE), DANCES, POOL PARTIES, FAMILY PARTIES IN THE PARKS, AN ANNUAL GARDEN PARTY AND AN ANNUAL WINE TASTING, HEALTH AND WELLNESS EDUCATION, ENGAGEMENTS WITH OTHER DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES, WEB SITE MAINTENANCE, VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION AS WELL AS GENERAL ADMINISTRATION, STAFF TRAINING AND MANAGEMENT AND VOLUNTEER TRAINING AND RECOGNITION. CENTRAL IS THE MAINTENANCE OF THE PRIDEHOUSE, A SMALL HOUSE IN CENTRAL BOULDER THAT IS LEASED AS OFFICE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SPACE, YET SERVES AS A SAFE AND FREE MEETING PLACE FOR ALL LGBTQ SUPPORT GROUPS, TEEN MEETINGS, EVENTS PLANNING MEETINGS, SOCIAL GATHERINGS AND, ON ITS WALL, SURFACES ON WHICH ART CAN BE SHOWN.
